Why is the backfire/pop so strong? Could there be a leak?

The air injection system is worthless without the CAT. That's where your popping comes from. I don't know if they will, but the pre-2021 MT models had availability with CS Racing, from Brazil. Nice underbelly system with side exit and trim, for affordable prices. They'll probably put out a 2021 version soon. For most bikes, their sound is second to none.

I am aware of the AIS system causing the pops but at this time there is no check engine lamp for it or any block off plates for the 2021 models. And I will have to take a look at CS to see when they come out with a system that sits lower.

@@Builtmoto Yeah, there's no fault light for the air injection because it doesn't affect engine function, only downstream exhaust. What would throw a code is the removal of an O2 sensor.

I agree. I assume it has something to do with the tuning of the bike or for the exhaust pressure control.

I do not sadly. I have tried to get a friend to film for me but the flames can only really been seen when it is dark and when the bike is coming down from high RPM

no you do not need a tune according to Akrapovic. The AIS (Air Injection System) does cause a little bit more popping that usual when the exhaust is installed but the bike has been riding fine and I have 2000 miles on the bike with the exhaust.

I put mine exhaust on before 1 st service.. yamaha adjusted air fuel mix for me on 600 mile service 👌. I said I was worried about voiding warranty. They couldn't give a .... 🙃

dont need a tune but the bike will run much much better with one. I had the akra carbon full exhaust on my 2019 MT and it ran like shit. Along with alot of decel pop. Just tuned the bike and now its a total beast and smooth as silk. Night and day difference. Virtually no decel pop anymore. Anyone who says you dont need a tune never ran the bike with a tune because there is no comparison. I thought the same and boy was I wrong. Do yourself a favor and get a tune with your exhaust.

that really sucks, I got one of the bikes that came on the first delivery at the dealer, and the dealer still has not got another delivery yet. so I got lucky to get mine when I did.

Nothing to do with brexit, it's been semiconductor issues. yamaha are not getting any more into the uk till march, any dealer tells you otherwise they're just wanting to get your deposit money. I am also waiting (deposit paid end of july) just been offered they're ex demo for very little discount due to demand

Sounds so good as always from Akra. Just honestly hate the way it looks. I really have no idea what they were thinking by not keeping the same style low key can from the previous Gen mt’s. It fit the bike perfectly! I just can’t like it no matter how hard I try. I’m going for the Yoshimura AT2 which also sounds good but imho, looks much better. Bike is looking sharp bud!

I agree! I actually just ordered the dominator gp3 exhaust just because it looks better. We will see just how bad it sound though

Is this with the db killer in or out??? Can you tame the sound down at all??

It is with the DB killer out. I took it out before the exhaust was actually installed. The DB killer will leave the idle sound very similar but will make the bike much quieter when riding down the road.

The bike has popped on deceleration ever since I installed the exhaust.

yes I believe so since the engine and engine tuning was no different between the standard bike and the SP version

there is no tuning available at this time for the bike. I know that power commander is working on a tune but they have no eta at this time.

I took the wheels and front fairing off and had them repainted to a Porsche color. (Mexico blue) I have a earlier video talking about that a little bit more in depth.

when i had the bike i had make it pop sometimes by opening the throttle a little bit on deceleration. also i do not remember if i had it tuned at this point so that could also be one of the things making it pop, i used a vcyclenut tune on mine and it was a very safe but powerful tune

hey man I am sorry that those did not work, I had talked about it in my 4 must do mods where the brake side did not fit. I have found some other that I believe will fit but I want to get them installed and ensure that they function well before uploading a video on them.

Looks like AliExpress exhaust for 2021 mt-09...also disable AIS system ECU to get rid of this stupid pops
