I just added the WFD-30 to my Power Cab and it works great. The funny part is I am Australian and live about 5 minutes away from the Wifitrax office. However I did not know about this option until someone in Tucson Arizona told me about it earlier this year while I was in the USA... A great addition to the railroad and highly recommended.

You are absolutely correct about this little module! I purchased the WFD-30 and connected it within seconds and was running trains in sheer moments with my TCS-50 throttle. I have even brought my WFD-30 to friends places for op sessions and connected it straight to the cab panel on the fascia and was running trains in no time. Many people are impressed with it so far 😉

Thanks for the video. I recently came across WifiTrax via another YT clip. I reached out to Steve as I'm running N-Scale and wouldn't you know it he has a unit called a WFD-27 which is a 5 Amp Wi-Fi/DCC Trackside Command Station/Booster. It will run up to 16 locos, which in fairness is enough for me and my bank balance. I was going to spend $$$$ on ESU Cab Control II, but now I don't need to and can get straight into DCC control at a fraction of the cost. It will be interesting to see how they compete with Blunami from Soundtraxx which has just released there Bluetooth control system, but at this stage no plans for N-Scale.

I'm just a simpleton and this is not something I will pursue, but I'm glad it works great on your railroad. I'm still learning how to railroad, let alone having to figure out this high tech stuff. I used to be afraid of DCC, but now it's super cool, and I would never go back to DC. Since you have run on my pike, you know what you get. Simplicity, right?? haha I think your WiFi control is to me what my Big Spinning Car Distributor is to you at the moment. ?? I'm sure you'll get the idea soon, but I'm not too sure about me and the Phone Throttle. Looking forward to our next OP Session next month!!!

The phone throttle is simplicity itself. It's also very cost-effective, since you don't need to buy expensive radio throttles if you have wifi. AND they're portable - I can use my phone on both my own layout (NCE) and the club layout (Digitrax). The only downside is I hate using my phone. One of these days I'll get a TCS universal wifi throttle and have the best of all worlds.

@@mapruitt Well, now you have my attention. I have plenty of throttles for my railroad, but since you could use it with Digitrax, that has peaked my interest a little. We'll chat more later.

That was a thorough tutorial up to where you are on this, must be the engineering background. Your a great instructor but I need you to switch to Digitrax and go over all of their products for me, lol.

Sorry Derek, but I picked NCE years ago and will not be switching to Digitrax. Good luck though - lots of Digitrax users out there.

My head hurts. Electronic setup stuff does that. Doesn't NEC have a wifi system (it's too late to look it up myself). If so, how does it compare? It appears pretty flexible, which I wouldn't expect the OEM one to be.

Sorry about the headache. I don't like going through a lot of garbage to set up things like that either (though I could). That's why I went with NCE in the first place. But setup for the WFD-31 is really easy. I don't think NCE has a wifi-enabling accessory. I've often wondered why not. But the WFD-31 sure fits my needs well!

@@mapruitt lol! I despise all the software & hardware setups, menus and submenus and subsubmenus, ad nauseum. Also calling up institutions that have automated systems which require pressing 27 buttons just to select your name, leave you in some dead end you can't get out of & have to start over, or don't have a choice for what you need. I beg my wife to do those things. She has patience. I have issues with stupid & aggravating. There's a lot more stupid & aggravating these days. Perhaps not coincidentally, I spend a lot more time in the basement these days. 😆 I'm surprised NEC doesn't have a wi-fi setup. I'm glad someone filled in the gap. Maybe you should become the North American distributor for them. Let us know how you get along with it in a month or two.
