2022 BC LEH Bison Hunt - Hunting BC

Elk hunted in this area for 20 years. The habitat, the type of hunters and hunting pressure has changed a lot, not nearly the game in this area as it was in the early years. Stopped going in 2020 but a lot of great memories

Talking to people who’ve hunted it for years, that’s the general consensus I got too. We did see a fair bit of game, like elk and sheep almost every day, but not in the numbers that people familiar with the area used to see, especially bison, and it sounds like the habitat has definitely changed as well. It’s really too bad, it’s a beautiful area. I would have loved to have experienced it 20yrs ago

Lived up in the Yukon for work a while back and have the fondest memories of passing bison herds in northern BC. Drove through their range at night. Thought there were boulders on the road, nope just bison. Wish I stayed longer to get some hunting in. Oh well. I’ll get back up there some day!

We definitely would like to get back up that way again and spend more time exploring, and hunting, up there. It’s definitely a unique part of the province, not like any other areas we normally spend our time. Hopefully you make it back up there too!

You betcha, yeah. Andy drew this tag in 2020, but with Covid and work being up in the air, we ended up burning the tag unfortunately, so we were pretty lucky to get another crack at it. Unfortunately you can’t control the weather, haha. Still a great experience though 🙌

I'm not a licensed guide outfitter unfortunately, but there's lots of opportunities to chase all 3 of the deer species found in BC. Look for sign and indentify the food source and I'm sure you'll find what you're after! 😁
