2022 BMW 530e engine oil change

Hi, just changed my first oil on new 540i and did not see crush washer for oil plug so I used the one that came with kit, was wondering if yours had crush washer. Thanks

Thanks for watching! You should get a new crush washer with the oil filter. If you go to the link in the description, you can look up your car and see the oil and filter that Amsoil offers for your car. In the picture of the filter you will see an o-ring for the filter cap and a crush washer. Please consider becoming a Preferred Customer and using Amsoil for your vehicles! That being said, to address your concern about reusing a crush washer. The purpose of the crush washer is to seal the oil in the oil sump. If the oil is not leaking past the crush washer, then you should be good. Just look under the car periodically to make sure it's not leaking. You definitely don't want to lose engine oil and ruin the engine, but if you have to reuse the crush washer it can be done. I just can't guarantee anything, so make sure you check for leaks. Also make sure you use the correct oil so you don't ruin your exhaust after treatment devices, such as the gasoline particulate filter. If you go to the link in the description and put in your car you will see the oil your car requires, and other important info.

BMW engineers should put the filter under the cylinder head so that every oil change, the head needs to be removed.

Superior German Engineering would never do that! Logically the ideal place would be next to the oil pump, bolted in by the main caps.
