I like to say the S1000R has "no sharp edges". Kind of funny that you use a similar description of a "perfect sphere". It's so refined, the quickshifter is flawless, the active suspension works great, the tech amenities are really useful, and it will even find neutral (gasp). Keep the revs low and it's quiet and docile, but in the upper register it will howl and rip your arms off. And in the real world, it's just as quick or quicker than it's rivals, because BMW under-advertises crank HP, and everything else is power limited at road speeds by either ECU maps or traction control.

s1000r the wildly adequate bike...this bike is like being perfectly middle class, you have a good job that pays decent, you have that ok 3 bed 2 bathroom house with a nice little yard and pool, 2 dogs and a just lovely wife that makes you feel happy...Absolutely nothing wrong with that life, but you don't want to do anymore than you have to, to maintain it and you never understand why people want more out of life...That is what the s1000r is to me, it is perfectly fine.😉

What Rider Sag are you using after Dave Moss helped with setup. Manual oddly recommends 50mm front and 40mm back. Seems too much from looking at other bikes.

Is there a way to check lap times after you get off track without having it in front of you while you ride? I haven’t got a lap timer yet as I’m not sure where to mount it cause I really don’t want that to be a distraction while riding on the track.

Interesting when I was purchasing my K67 I saw your video and it made sense due to recall etc.. but your biggest issue with that bike was the restrictions at 6k rpm which is still there. I reckon you said you don’t want to do a flash and ruin the warranty on that lines.. so what has changed? Either way I’m excited for that bike build series.

I have the same bike. My dealer told me I can mod all I want and it won't void warranty
@CaliMotoTV3 жыл бұрын
When the 2020 s1000rr first came out, it had a ton of issues and stop sales. We didn't want to mod such a new model bike that had a ton of issues. Everything you do to your bike can be used against you. A dealer can choose to look the other way, or not.

I have had 2 S1000Rs. It is a great, refined bike but it is a bit boring compared to the Streetfighter V4. The Streetfighter is relentless. I appreciate both for what they are. It just comes down to choice. Right now, the Streetfighter V4 is the bike for me. I think Bill hit it on the head with his review.

Curious to know why you didn't get the M sport trim? You spend a lot of time on the track that it would be a no brainer that M sport is the only way.

There's not enough on the M sport to justify the money.

Lack of suspension adjustability will always be a massive black flag for this bike. I mean, why not implement the RR race modes? Why?
@jerichom11x3 жыл бұрын
You don't need it. There's preload adjustment for individual weights, the rest is done by the computer. Road mode for cruising, dynamic for smooth twisities. 2 up mode for track. It's only a "black flag" if you don't understand it. It's literally better than the RR If you still don't want DDC then buy the base model which comes with standard suspension.
@greyanaroth3 жыл бұрын
@@jerichom11x If I were to get this bike, it would be the base model + customised extras/packs. For me, the suspension is definitely not better than the RR. On that, you can go in and setup individual compression/rebound settings on the rear and dial in the front damping to your taste. This is over and above the road and dynamic active presets. Now, this only comes into play IF the factory dynamic setup isn't good enough for you, and judging by bill thrashing this bike about, there's always the argument of whether you really need it, especially on the road. But I'm a tweak head, and spent a lot of time and effort to learn how to tune suspension properly to my taste. And it just doesn't sit well with me, on a philosophical level, of bmw introducing a forced handicap when, really, all it would take is a software upgrade to expose the fixed settings if you happen to prefer a more predictable suspension setup. To each their own. :) Compare this to what ducati implemented with the Öhlins. BMW can totally do the same but they choose not to for the sake of simplicity, and in many respects, a lot of customers will appreciate the power up and just ride nature of the bike. But I'm not that customer. :)
