Oil change on the 2022 CFMoto 300ss/sr. This video is for beginners or for people who have never changed their own oil before and just want a video to use as a reference. At the end of the video I put a list of compatible oil filters that should be available at your local auto part stores. Please like, comment, and subscribe! Thank you

That's so confusing for the side stand oil thing. You make a good point that you added in the suggested amount of oil and it's in the B zone sitting upright vs. side stand. I think I'll do it upright as well now

Thank for the filter list at the end. I have the 300NK which has the same motor. The manual says API SJ oil but most I've found is SL or later. From what I've read, that's fine but your video helped confirm oil type. The Mobil 1 4T was at the top of my list along with the Valvoline 4 Stroke Synthetic

Thanks for watching! Tough decision. Always been a huge Kawasaki fan. If you haven’t made up your mind, I would go with the CFMoto. You can’t beat the feeling of having a brand new bike. However the extra 100ccs would be nice. I have 600 miles on this bike and have absolutely no complaints. Do whatever your heart tells you, but as a CFMoto owner, I find no reason to ever go back to another manufacturer. Looking to get their new 450cc for my next bike.

Same. I'm a new rider and was contemplating that same. It's the ABS for me. Ninja 400 can come with ABS but is a bit more. I'm leaning towards the 300ss. How do you like the app?

Hey mate, appreciate the great video as I have a 2020 I'm looking to do work on. Quick question, any reason you chose not to clean the Oil Strainer next to the drain bolt? That's recommended at each oil change.
@Trey_Johnson11
@Trey_Johnson11 10 ай бұрын
No problem bud. But I’m not familiar with an oil “strainer” next to the drain bolt…? you may have to show a picture or video showing what you mean because my owners manual doesn’t mention that either. So unless your year model is different than mine, I’m honestly honey sure what you’re referring to. Sorry!

@@Trey_Johnson11The 300 SS/SR has an oil strainer as well as a paper oil filter. It looks like the type you might sift flour through for baking. It's located on the same side as the oil drain plug bolt only a few inches to the left and slight below of the bolt and is removed/installed using a hex key socket/allen key. If you look in the owners manual it mentions it under periodic maintenance as the very next option under "engine oil and oil filter" at every oil change. Its page 80 of my owners manual. Just blast it with brake cleaner and wait a few seconds to dry and put it back in. It's the spot any internal metal fragments end up instead of the paper filter as they can't pass through and common to collect things during the first break in period and any time the engine is bashed hard. Give it a go at your next change :) Unless of course it doesn't list it for your '22. Mine is a '20 model.

Great video. Debating on this or the Ninja 400. Leaning toward the 300ss, as a new rider I think the app with help me learn mechanical issues as the arise. How do you like the app?
@Trey_Johnson11
@Trey_Johnson11 2 жыл бұрын
To be honest the app has been a big pain for me as well as others that I have spoken to. It constantly sends me alerts that my bike has fallen over when it hasn’t. The GPS doesn’t work.. it actually got me lost. I try not to use the app. The bike itself is great though. They just need to work on the app because it sucks

@@Trey_Johnson11 I do LOVE the bike, but the app really if for absolute shit. It sends me alerts that my bike fell over 3 times in a windstorm- it was literally still upright, and the GPS... well i hope you like wandering down random streets for hours. REALLY solid machine tho, no regrets about the bike whatsoever. I just see the app as a little accessory that isn't very useful.
@jessicabailey5948

I havent had that issue with the app. It actually notified me this week when someone hit it out in walmart parking lot & knocked it over. It has a sensitivity adjustment that u can change in the app. You might try lowering it.

Oh you changed your oil at 423 miles? Thought itbwas supposed to be at least 600 for the break in period?
@Trey_Johnson11
@Trey_Johnson11 6 ай бұрын
Right, so anytime before or at 600 miles the oil needs to be changed because the new factory parts leave metal shavings in the oil during the break in period. The earlier you change the oil the better. Doesn’t hurt the bike to change the oil often. It’s good for it

@Trey_Johnson11
@Trey_Johnson11 Жыл бұрын
A lot of people recommend changing it as early as possible when the bike is new because the oil gets a lot of metal shavings from all the engine parts not being broken in yet from the factory… and that takes a few oil changes to get flushed completely out and it’s not good for your bike at all. Some folks do an oil change every 200 - 300 miles for the first year for this reason.
