something that could have helped with the wood board: topcoat it first 😊 use a clear sealer (polycrylic, water based polyurethane, or even rustoleum clear), let dry, and then apply your vinyl! this happens often on top of stain because it’s oil-based and vinyl won’t stick to it well.

That’s a good idea. I tried that and it worked well. I had to make sure it was completely dry and cured first though because when I didn’t wait long enough the transfer tape pulled some of the sealant off.

I believe, had you coated the lovely wood ornament with a coat or two of matte Mod Podge, the vinyl should have adhered more readily. This turned out SO beautiful!

Also, may I suggest something? Try doing reverse weeding. apply your transfer tape right away, remove the backing and then reverse weed. its so much easier!

Hey I’ve learned that you can paint over the top of your vinyl with mod podge on things like that board that it was hard to get to stick down and it will last longer and it will also give it a little bit of a shine.

These were all fantastic diys! Especially the 1st one, my favorite. I think if you brush a layer of mod Podge over the wooden ornament to will last for quite sometime. I have a small turntable in my kitchen with my salt and pepper and spices on it, we use it daily and it’s still like new. I’ve had it for over a year now. Such great attention to detail, think I’ll tune in to see other episodes. 🌲🎅🔔

On the cutting board, can you put a coat of clear varnish or mod podge to protect the design? And sometimes the clear vinyl from dollar tree sticks less, easier pèel off.

Did you ever get that photo printer? I don't do it anymore, but your ink jet should be capable of printing some pretty nice photos using photo paper. Canon, HP & Epson make very good grades of photo paper. 👍

Love these. I ran into this issue on a wood round when I left it bare. I think sealing the wood with like a coat of polycrylic would help the vinyl transfer easier. My wood round is holding up great so your ornament may actually hold up very nicely.🎅🏻🎅🏻

When I attach vinyl on raw wood I always put mod podge down 1st, let it dry well. The vinyl sticks so well and I have no problem with it adhering to the wood. Just a thought for next time. 🎅

Totally been there with the vinyl not laying down on the project like with your wooden ornament! In your experience, do you think HTV would have the same difficulties on that wooden ornament blank?

(Hobby Photographer here)you get a photo printer, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend getting one where the ink cartridges are separate. No red, yellow, blue in one and then black in the second. With individual cartridges you save a lot more time and money with ink. Let’s say with a combined cartridge you run out of the blue, well now that whole cartridge isn’t any good because it doesn’t have blue and you have to replace it. Even though it still has red and yellow. I really recommend one where it’s separate and you can change each color as it runs out. I have a canon TS8322 and I will never use another printer for photos. It’s centered around photo printing but also has a separate cartridge for regular black ink instead of photo black so you can print day to day items. It also has a cartridge with a special blue in addition to the normal blue which help make your photos really pop with color. There is also a brand of EZ ink on Amazon that works amazingly with the printer. Photo printers can be picky if you use a different ink brand. 2 years later this printer is my ride or die and the ez ink is so inexpensive compared to canon brand and preforms just as well!!

I recently bought a Cricut Joy (because of your videos). (Christmas present: my husband never knows what to get me) I have a Cricut Air 2, but the Joy is just so fast and easy for the smaller jobs like labels and cards. Now looking for accessories. I really also want the cup holder for adding vinyl. I do candles and like to add vinyl to some of the jars, and this would help a lot

I have this problem with wood also - sometimes a heat gun or hair dryer will activate the adhesive and will stick better
