Congratulations on having the most vintage snowmobile on the track. Having had an exciter i know that the motor can push the machine faster than it should, if you can get a track to hook up.

Thanks! It is a really fun sled on groomed trails. Not so much in soft stuff. We have a new sled for this year's Ditchbanger. Hopefully, we can at least finish the race lol.

This is awesome. I'm rebuilding the carbs in my exciter 570 l/c right now. Moved back up here and decided to restore the old girl. Last registration expired in 06 when I rode/crashed it last lol. Great snowmobile.

We are having a blast learning about them! This event gave us a whole new appreciation for snowmobiles. The technology has come a long way but dang the old stuff just oozes with coolness haha

Dude...that was completely unfair...those late 90's skidoos...and that punch/pipe Red Polaris were in different year brackets...you did amazing...so fun to watch...I want this up here in Canada...got my sites on an Exciter aswell...cheers...pS...welll edited videos..nice work..cheers

Thank you! We are definitely proud of the exciter for doing as well as it did. Unfortunately it's plagued by a bogging issue. Hopefully we can get it sorted out for this year🤘 glad you enjoyed the video

You sure look like you enjoy this, and I'm guessing you're on the verge of becoming addicted, and I know that feeling all to well. I gotta tell you, if you found yourself riding a 92 or 93 ACat EXT 550, you may just end up dragging home a trophy. Of course this is strictly my opinion, but I've done enough of this to form an accurate one nonetheless. Have a great time out there my friend, and THANK YOU for the awesome videos!!

Gotta get your ass up off the seat and low to the ground through those turns if you want to rocket through those turns. Hand full of brake on the weight transition going into the turn then pin it when the back end kicks out and keep her pinned. That chassis will go where you point the skis.

Agreed. This was my first race ever. I learn a lot! Mostly that I am not in shape lol. I was gassed early in the race and I was just trying to hold on

@throttle_therapy I highly recommend you watch Tim bender at eagle River III and ĥis snowcross video. All he did was race exciter and phazers and the man's riding style was animalistic to say the least. But his former really shows how to ride either a phazer or exciter chassis properly. If your slex is an 87 you may want to swap out the nikuni butterfly for some roundslide vm38's or if you can get the complete carb rack from a vmax 600 and go straight to flatslides and re jet. Both are worthwhile upgrades to that sled. Clean your clutches. Do your idler wheel bearings and grease the skid. Check your primary to secondary center to center and make sure your clutch offset is good. If you run through the forums you will see some of the older guys talking about using a straight edge to check offset. I collect these sleds and beat the balls off em every time it snows, there is a lot you can get out of these machines. Keep up at it. Wish I had the money to go drive out to the nationals this year, but SHCRA is going over here in New York. Take it easy guys.

Do you have foam insulation missing around the steering and front side panels? I’m restoring a 93 Exciter right now. There was foam strips(barely) in between the front side panels and steering part of the frame. I assume to keep snow out. I went and bought foam insulation strips and used that to replace the foam.

There are holes in our belly pan from some impact, and the lower hinge on the side panel is broken so the side panels don't stay super tight to the sled. We put some weather stripping In to help but it hasn't snowed enough yet to test that

There was snow skirt foam on that cowling piece that you are talking about. Basically a 90's pre-filter

i had one of those and rode it extremely hard in all conditions you had crappy fuel or dirty carbs and tape up some intake air areas there is panels up front u cant control in the nose cone but the throttle would kill my hand stretched out to keep it pinned ,and polaris track mod works best for traction the yam tracks suck

CHECK FOR CRACK IN THE INTAKE BOOTS AND CLEAN INTAKE OUT AIRBOX ,,GO THRU THE CARBS MAKE SURE THERE CLEAN ,,IF IT GETS WARM AND STARTS CUTING OUT IT COULD BE THE STATOR TO NEVER HAD A BAD ONE BUT IT HAPPENS ,
