I love the style. I think this is Genesis’s best looking vehicle. Too bad the upcoming GV60 isn’t this good looking. I hear Genesis plans to make an electric version of the GV70. But, my guess is the range will not be great given the platform was not designed to be an EV like the GV60. I think this GV70 will be their best selling model.

I thought so as well until I saw one in person. The plastic bits are exactly as described in the video. Kind of half baked and cheap-ish looking. The interior however is exceptionally designed. Have you seen the GV70 in person?

Having seen it in person I would disagree. It is the most photogenic SUV on the market but in the flesh not so much. The Mercedes GLC is far prettier in person.

Great review! I’m in the market for a G70 here in Australia but they are RWD only. The AWD GV70 is only a small price premium over the G70 but it has the bigger, newer V6, much superior interior and more room. They need to put the GV70 interior into the G70 or drop the price of the sedan! Sedans are hard enough to sell as it is and the G70 will struggle against the new C class Mercedes’ next level interior.

Nice enough looking exterior, although the styling is overwrought. The fine details are bit too much, such as the plastic cross-hatch in the lower rear valance, and the fussy detailing on the wheels. The interior is beautiful, especially in the red and black combo. The two knobs on the console seems like a bad idea. Who thought that people would be able to tell the difference while concentrating on the road? Overall, I would buy the GV70 over the G70. Come and get your high-five, Micah 😄🤚
@banderson19793 жыл бұрын
I like it a lot. Wish it was the same car in the size of the GV80. It’s just too small.
@benjaminkohl3423 жыл бұрын
I have some refutations to the GV70 vs the Germans. First of all, based on what I've read, the speed of the V6 os much closer to the German i-4s (GLC300, Q5 45, X3 30) then the AMG/M40/S. Also, to get some nice but by no means crazy features, you have to get the top trim. Specifically: digital guages, HUD, heated back seats. If I wanted those features specifically, a GLC300, X3, or Q5 AWD would cost 10k less. Even with the standard AWD, the base 2,5 seems to be about $3,000-4,000 less then the Germans, but the mid trim is more per feature then the Germans, and the Advanced trim (49k) is equivilent in features to a 51k Audi or BMW, maybe a 52k GLC. So the difference is pretty small. And while the V6 majorly undercuts the AMG43 and X3 M40i, I actually think performance wise it's closer to the base models then the 2.5T. Also the German cars have noticably better fuel economy. The GV70 is great in a lot of ways, especially design. And $2,000 is $2,000, but i'm not sure the GV70 is actually all that great a value play unless you specifically want adaptive cruise control, and i know lots of older folk in this cars target demographic that specifically DONT want all the safety gizmos. Other then the adaptive cruse, the GLC comes with all the same standard features that the GV70 does, the X3 is only missing comfort access for $500, and the Q5 is only missing driver seat memory and blind spot(?), which is in a convenience package for $1,000. Also, Micah, you mentioned the Q5 when talking about competiton that doesn't come standard with AWD, when the Q5 is literally the ONLY competitor that has it standard too haha
@no9254me3 жыл бұрын
So the design is mainly the differentiator ? Color me Surprised? Also the Genesis brand residual value is terrible so why bother with it over the German🙄
@Kiss__Kiss3 жыл бұрын
Hyundai is definitely doing something Correct. The way they let you choose between the sedan and SUV, Not just in similar nomenclature but also stylistically, is that of the Audi S4 and SQ5.. Not that it's a bad thing, but it definitely is a step in the right direction. Thanks Micah and family for sharing your thoughts, on what a wonderful SUV this is, even if the price and residual may not be as great as the already established few, within the category/segment.

If the GV70 has been on the market when I bought my 2021 GV80, I’d have given it a serious look. The 2.5T Sport Prestige would likely have been enough for my needs and saved me $20K over the GV80 3.5T Prestige. I do wonder about the day to day aspects of the reduced rear passenger space and cargo space. Also, does the middle section of the rear seats fold down to allow for skis to be passed through?

Great review Micah👌. I have a question. I’ve been looking at a few vehicles. How much difference do you think there is dynamically between the 3.5 Sport Prestige and the X3 M40i? Equally equipped the price difference seems to be about $6K. The interior of the BMW doesn’t feel nearly as special as the Genesis. I’m wondering if it’s really worth the added premium. I have zero brand affinity and care nothing about labels.

This *was* a raucous good time! I much prefer the exterior of the G70. The GV70's rear is bland and the sides have that clumsy window that reminds me of the Porsche 928's, but less successful here. Still, Genesis has come a long way in a short time.

Cannot believe this channel has noted made 100k, just say you will review quirks and features and get that white van review ready to post. Wish the 3.5t and 2.5t were offered in the G70, great engines. I think these engines have both port and direct injection? This may help with the MPG? Really though these are the new more efficient Genesis engines in the GV70, the new 2022 G70 did not get the new engines.

Will that cost you thousands in repair bills? One would think the engineers would recognize that and be prepared for it. What do you think?
