I have had my rebel since February of 2021 in DCT. I see a lot of people say they hate how it looks but I actually get a lot of compliments on it. I think the naked look attracts people. The stock exhaust is what makes it weirdo I upgraded to the Two Brothers Racing exhaust which makes it look much better IMO and totally gives a much more aggressive sound. I also upgraded to forward controls from T-Rex Racing.. this was a game changer for me as I am 6’4 about 190lbs Standard controls def got a bit cramped after a while. After my first year riding I considered selling it but after riding it again after winter it was no way I could. Very fun bike, sport mode def turns it up a notch !
@MichiganPowersports Жыл бұрын
I am 5'10 200lbs and the forward controls from trex were absolutely critical. I would have sold the bike in the first 3 months without them. The 1100 is an incredible bike and I love it, but honestly if you are taller than 5'8 you are going to feel cramped on the bike. I am surprised you can ride it at all at 6'4. Also the stock seat sucks. I would really like to see an even bigger rebel parallel twin 1400-1600 that has more room for taller/fatter dudes, the added performance would be nice too! It would fit that perfect niche where it would be a sport cruiser/comfortable touring bike.

I'm 6' 3" and 205 lbs and I'm starting to wonder if I will ever find a beginner cruiser that will work without modification. The Rebel sounds perfect otherwise. I like the idea of a DCT - complete beginner and the last manual trans I used on anything was a Toyota in the 90s.😄 I guess there's always going to be a compromise when you're a bit taller.

Very informative review I own the DCT with only the batwing fairing and a DNA air filter extras fitted, standard exhaust but it does shift if you give it some when in sport mode it can drop two gears which shocked me the first time but I couldn't stop smiling the rest of the run. I am only 5' 5" and have arthritis which is the reason I had to wait for a large CC automatic cruiser but it was well worth it. The Rebel is speed governed to 100mph which in UK is more than enough Honda got it right with this one as there is a three month wait over here for a new one, I got lucky as someone waited then cancelled their order just as the bike got to UK as they had missed the summer so I got mine in 8 days, the black and DCT exactly what I wanted thank you Evergreen for your delay I must be one of the only people glad that ship ran aground.

As always, a wellmade review. I can tell there are some thoughts behind it. This bike is for those who dares chose quality and rideability first. Who dares to think out of the "copy a Harley" box. Had one for 8 months and sold it. Great bike for many reasons, but I didn’t love it. Riding position is uncomfortable even after you adjust to it. DCT was always love/hate for me (I would buy manual next time) and the 100mph wall often ruined the amazing acceleration. Handling was excellent I have to admit, and the toque never got old, but every time I rode it I just felt like yeah it’s fun but it’s just not me. Fuel economy was also below average and the radiator fan blowing engine heat on my leg on a hot day wasn’t awesome. Definitely runs hot and probably needs a larger radiator. Call me crazy but I got more riding enjoyment from the Rebel 500 and Vulcan S 🤷🏼♂️

Daytona crash bars allow forward foot resting. I have had mine for 6 months. $17500 in oz. just after I got mine it went up in price to just over $20000 ( manual). Low rider S $ over $26000. So the Honda is better value and my commute on an amazing road is a cracker. Great review (again) thanks. And the looks grow on you. The thump even in rain mode at 4000 rpm will ensure your left hand grip is tight. I am waiting on a mapping chip to make fueling more rich and snappy throttle in sport less damm snappy. Rain mode for commuting is civilized. My opinion for what it’s worth.

@thelevelrider642 жыл бұрын
Having gone down to the dealership and thrown a leg over one, the first thing that popped into my head about the Rebel 1100 was that it doesn't feel like a cruiser at all. I saw one review in which it was summarized as a naked bike DISGUISED as a cruiser, and I think that's pretty much the way it felt to me. I wouldn't want a DCT bike. Low speed handling is compromised, to say the least. Call me an old fart, but I LIKE a clutch. One thing I really hate about the Rebel (AND the new Sportsters!) are the effin' UGLY, oversized exhaust systems that are being put on them. It looks like they bolted on a 1970's metal lunchbox where the muffler ought to be! WTF??? They crowd out the passenger footpegs (as you noted), and make mounting decent-capacity saddlebags a nightmare. C'mon, dammit, the motorcycle companies really don't have to try THIS damn hard to support the aftermarket exhaust companies.
@DifferentSpokesTV2 жыл бұрын
I agree about the exhausts, but have a feeling that we have Euro5 to thank for that. You can bet that 80% of owners will scrap that thing right off the bat. The bike sounded good but with a proper aftermarket can it has potential to really stand out.
@thelevelrider642 жыл бұрын
@@DifferentSpokesTV Agreed... but the fact that we have to pay extra to get it right just pisses me off. Have one version for Euro-5 if you're going to sell them over there, and another for here at home. Probably be cheaper to make, at that!

People should look at Thailand's new upocoming motorcycle company, GMX. They now are beginning to sell in many other countries, and are better and cheaper than royal enfields, bvut not as good as a Honda for quality and reliability.. however, they start at about 2500$ for a 250 classic bike that looks a bit like a Triumph Thruxton with upside down forks! Thailands GMX bikes are pretty good (and getting better all the time) .They are becoming very popular in Japan now too, as well a dozens of other countries, for their immensely cheap price, and ease of customisation and part relacement, and maintenance, as well as being really fun to ride..

Are the wheels different from the 300 and 500? It looks thinner.

Prefer the manual.I like the feeling of clutch engagement and in slow turns helps fine tuning in that grey zone of engagement and not.DCT has its place ton of people love it its just not for me and I like the simplicity of manual.Imagine having to work on complicated DCT probably not for DIYers

Yeah, I’d go for the manual myself. But I don’t do a lot of riding in traffic.

You were comparing the exhaust note on the Africa twin to the pre 2019 model. The 2020 + model has a much better exhaust note, better then any standard exhaust I’ve had before.

They were both this year’s bikes. I tested the AT a couple of weeks ago. The AT wasn’t bad but the Rebel is noticeably louder.
@chrishall7342 жыл бұрын
@@DifferentSpokesTV I stand corrected. I thought the AT in the video looked like the older version. Anyway keep up the great videos, very enjoyable.

I can't believe it's Honda of all manufacturers that ripped up the rule book. No way my lanky 6'2" frame is fitting on it though.
@DifferentSpokesTV2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Honda definitely does it’s own thing. At your height you’d be pretty cramped though.

Honda every 5 years is like Roll 19 boring but practical models that normal people would buy Roll 1 model that raise middle fingers to the market trend, and either sell well or a flop

Would you recommend this for a new rider? Especially with the rain mode allowing for limitations?

Absolutely! Got this as my very first bike and no regrets

Hello, Iam new to riding actually looking to buy my first bike. I have been to a few dealers looking for the rebel 500 however all the salesman tell me that I will outgrow it in half a year and tell me to get a bigger bike (a indian scout was recommended). I was wondering if this would be a good beginner bike. I know I kept reading and looking at people saying to just ride it in rain mode and once I get comforable to move to standard mode. Iam 5'5 and weigh 140pounds. Do you think this is a good beginner bike?
