Hey folks,
Just wanted to touch base with everyone and give you an update on the Honda 420
Rancher after having owned and ridden it for the past year. I’d say my opinion of it is pretty well 90% positive still. There’s a few little things that I wouldn’t quite give it full marks on, but nothing’s been a deal breaker and I’ve used it both on the farm and out hunting and I’ve had no major issues with it. Stock suspension and tires have worked great under load and in the mud/snow, so I haven’t felt the need to change any of those components. Stock headlights weren’t quite up to par for me, so I did swap those out and add some after market LED pods and a light bar as well, but otherwise that’s pretty well it. I did add a 4000lb winch and a silencer muffler to make it a little nicer on the ears for longer rides on it, and because I’m out alone a fair bit, so not having a winch is a no-go for me. I have gotten quite a few questions about the shift out of reverse, and I can say it’s definitely gotten noticeably better, but does still stick and clunk a bit coming out of reverse and back through neutral into the forward gears. If you watched the initial review from last year, you’ll know that Honda already gave me a heads up that that was something I might experience with the rancher and that, although they couldn’t quite say exactly why it does what it does, it was perfectly normal and not to be concerned about it.
…anyways, 1 year in and yes…I’d still recommend the Honda Rancher 420 to anybody looking for a capable mid-range workhorse that won’t break down or break the bank 👍
