I think one of the XADVs best assets is touring. At highway speeds its silky smooth and runs low rpms at 120-130kph its sublime. Power sufficient for spirited passing and the fuel economy amazing. I've taken mine on numerous long distance rides and the comfort rivals the best purpose-built touring bikes. Add a luggage solution and it's the most well rounded two motorbike I've experienced. (my 18th motorcycle) Call me smitten and enamored with this gem of a motorcycle the XADV. Honda,,,, well done!!!

I ride the xadv since 2018 and currently have the 2021er version. I would not focus the xadv so massively for the city and short distances because of its weight and dimension. (and in my opinion for the city the xadv is completely overpowered). In my opinion the perfect fit for the xadv are country roads. Roads that also can be in a bad state or even have no asfalt at all. Its perfect for travelling larger distances as well. Its a phantastic allrounder. (probably the best allrounder on the entire market at the moment). Is the price too high? If you only look on the engine power probably yes. But this would be a very limited view. You have tons of high quality components and an extremely versatile concept. For me the price is completely fine and fair.
@redangrevival2 жыл бұрын
All very valid and good points 👍 I definitely take your point on the quality of components and how versatile and well equipped the bike is. I see what you mean for country roads, personally I would find it hard to get this over something else if I was primarily on country roads. Just personal opinion though. Great to hear from an owners perspective, cheers.

Yes, his assumptions are completely wrong. I made 1500km tours on the XADV and it's the perfect bike for that. Excellent weather protection, good riding position, you can change the position of your feet a lot, have space below the seat and so on. And you have 60hp which is enough to keep on all the BWM GS out there. I changed from an Indian FTR and since then, the XADV is my bike for everything. The daily driver and the tourer.

The main reason why you would want this bike is because of the transmission. The cvt doesn't give you the ability to use the transmission for down hill use as the dct being able to put in a manual transmission mode can help save your brakes on a long downhill drive. Nothing worse than having to stop and let your brakes cool down when your on the adrenaline rush of a downhill run through the twisties. I know a lot of people would say "well just get a manual transmission motorcycle " and I would agree to a point but the rest of the time especially when your in city traffic the automatic makes your life so much easier . Why not have the best of both worlds and hopefully the 350 adv will have the same gearbox as it already has the suspension. Oh and put the dual disc's on the front of it as well .

I do fancy the X-ADV, the only thing that puts me off is the lack of cruise control. I know an aftermarket solution can be fitted, but I don't like the look of those, they look dangerous. I prefer having a button, or for the bike to instantly turn it off if I apply the brakes. With that said, it looks planted, very stable, but also powerful... fast of the mark, good handling. And probably very good for filtering too. Plus, it'll have Honda's reliability. I'm guessing Honda didn't add the cruise control because they want the bike to be as competitive as possible. But I think it should be an optional extra if that's the case.

Great vid. Here’s the thing: I’ve been riding bikes for over 30 years. 2 or 3 times in my life I’ve bought a Suzuki Burgman 650 because I really like them, the way they look and so practical and fun. However when I ride them anywhere that is not the city I just don’t feel safe. something about that armchair riding position on a scooter that leaves you feeling exposed. I rode scooters for years, from 250s to an 850! But I just don't see the point in this machine. One big thing is the wheel size, no? Not sure why you'd want an adventure machine with small-ish wheels. Not sure why you'd want a twist-and-go adventure bike, either - don't you need more gear/clutch control than that? Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to kinda defeat it's own reason to exist? I loved the Silverwing. Fantastic scooter. Most of Hondas are. Honda make great bikes. Honda make great scooters. But this, I just don't get, especially at £11k! If you want an easy to ride adventure bike with good storage and fairings, that exists for the price and with a more appropriate configuration. If you want a similar maxi-scooter, that exists for less money and with more 'scootery' design and features. I'm just not sure who has ever, or would, ask for a scooter-adventure cross-over. I wonder who will be buying it? Those who want a motorcycle, but don't want to change gears? There are those too lol.

Hi, yes I did enjoy the ride. Different to what I am used to, but was definitely fun. I would say it is a lot more comfortable than the MT07 and more practical. Not sure about wether it is more fun though!
@ChrisIsMeinName2 жыл бұрын
I had a Monster and a FTR before. Now I got the XADV and I don't miss the Duc and the Indian. I once rode the MT07 and I'm quite sure you will like the XADV. Don't order it, take it for a test drive. It's very different to the MT07. So relaxed, just slightly slower but there's soooooo much more practicality and a way better suspension.

The DCT is very good and easy to ride with 👍 Only thing I would say is it is quite a big machine. Other than that if you are relatively confident in your ability then I think this would be a brilliant first bike.

It has a big 750cc engine and no cvt but it has floor boards, automatic shifting and low step frame.. I'd still say it's closer to a motorcycle than a scooter. The adv 350 has cvt and small engine so that's a scooter.

What I don’t understand is scooters don’t have gears that is why people like them but if you want gears on a bike then you buy a normal bike with gears this is why this scooter has been a massive flop in sales. A man wearing a dress doesn't make him a woman. Africa Twin, NT1100, NC7x0 all have DCT versions and are considered motorcycles. So the X-ADV is just a motorcycle dressed as a scooter. Having the driver footpegs addon installed should make it even more obvious.

You always talk about commuting and city riding. I think you completely missed the huge range of that thing. I came from an Indian FTR and I did long tours with my XADV. 1500+ kilometres an more. Over the Alps, through tuscany, France, Switzerland... The other group members had GS, Multi, a Triumph Tiger and I never had the feeling of being underpowered. You can EASILY can do all that. This, to be clear, isn't a bike just for the city or commuting. Yes, it don't have the power of my former FTR, but look what we talk about! A bike with ~60hp. That's more than a lot of rookies in different countries is allowed to drive! These guys make tours with ~40hp. And you talk about commuting and city traffic... Sorry, that's bullshit 😂😂 I once crossed the Alps with a R65 with 45hp and it was epic. So to all people watching this video: all the talking about commuting is absolutely wrong. If you want, you can do everything with the XADV. You can commute and you can do 1000km tours with ease! The assumption he made are not correct except the feeling and quality.
