The ultra in my shop was a little under poundage and the draw was a little short, yours may be as well. I averaged 323 at true 29.5/70. It's probably still a little slow but not 17fps

Interesting, Inside Out Precision also tested at exactly 30", 70 lbs, 360 grain arrow, including a peep and string dampeners, and he also got 325 fps.

I would love to see the difference FMJJ gets outdoors on a sunny day with his chronograph vs in his shop. Lighting affects these things greatly. He seems to get slower speeds than other reviewers.

@@HuntEthicaldo you not realize that almost all chronos have lighting setup on them? They use reflection of artificial lighting to measure the speed... They can be manipulated so bad indoors, and seem to have more accurate readings outside. No 2 chronographs will read the same for the most part. With that being said him keeping his in the same spot using the same lighting effects you can compare bows with each other.

Would the fact it’s long on the axel to axel mean that if you twisted the main string up to bring it into speck you might get more juice/speed out of it? And is that what you would recommend doing to bring a bow that’s out like that back in?

I am assuming you were shooting the #3 cam in the 30" draw position. No way that the #2 cam maxed out in draw would be that slow. I can 100% believe the #3 cam at 30" being that slow.

@@TORREX-A.D. your correct ibo is NOT 70 pounds and 30 inches of draw length. Which is why he is not getting the speeds he thinks he should be getting. Ibo is 5 grains per inch up to 80lbs with a 2 pound variance and here’s the kicker “no specified draw length” this is why they can advertise these speeds. Technically speaking it is perfectly acceptable for IBO speed to be tested with a 400 grain arrow at 82 pounds at 32 inches of draw length. Or 31. Or 34. Or whatever length they choose to test from. ATA speeds are 70 30 and 350 grains. With a 0.2lb variance. And draw length of + 1/4. So 350 grains 70.2 lbs and 30.25 inches of draw is the max they can test under. Hoyt does list ATA speeds rather than ibo though.

No check of actual draw weight, no check of actual draw length, whisker basket and I am guessing no check to see if bow is actually tuned tells me all I need to know about speed test. According to google, IBO speeds are obtained by an #80 draw weight, max draw length, and a 400 grain arrow. Ata speeds are the #70, 30, 350.

I debated Hoyt in the comments of their YT video. This bow shows a bit of change and definite improvement, but the aluminum bows seem to be basically identical. They keep getting more and more expensive, and don't really give that much more feature wise.

@@lugia233 no i 100% agree with you but in todays world humans are born to take the path of least resistance....the idea of a challege drives most people away. I started on crossbows because they were more affordable than compounds and get better performance. I have since switched to my mathews and havent looked back. 100% love hunting with my compound now. But performance wise it doesnt even compare to my $300 crossbow and i have probably over $2000 invested in my compound.

I've had to get an rx7 module 2 and an ultra module 3 to swap the modules over to get a rx7 ultra with a number 2 module. Unbelievable mess about getting what I need in the uk but im curious do you think this may not work? I mean it's still a hbx pro cam and I cant see any discrepancies between the rx7 and the rx7 ultra when trying to just buy a separate module. This should work right? But the draw length range is different between the mod 2 rx7 and the mod 2 ultra. So I am gtn a bit concerned

Good review and fan of channel but idk what he’s been doing but his numbers are low. I’ve seen the rx7 ultra shoot a 408gr at 328 at 80# and I’ve seen multiple 70# setups get close to listed IBO rating. One big factor could be he stated it was out of spec at 34-1/4 and assuming he didn’t correct it or could just be his chrono. As others mentioned he’s always low compared to others and what I’ve seen in person. I will say unbiasedly that I had the V3X and the Ventum Pro and the Ventum pro feels HEAVY, so with the stock mini stabilizer he might actually be on point with the weight

@@jasonnester9514 the way Hoyt let off is changed means the higher let off setting allows the cam to rotate slightly further, thereby loading more energy into the system. Just like a 30" draw loads more and shoots faster than a 29" draw would. There were a few YT channels that tested this with the 2021 Hoyt bows and everytime the 85% let off was faster than the 80%

Yah maybe don’t use a whisker when looking at speed. Put a decent rest on wit minimal fletching contact. You could be losing 5-10 fps with that.

The RX-1 is the worst flagship bow i’ve ever shot, good to see Hoyt has finally caught back up to the competition with the RX-7. The Pro Defiant is still probably the best bow Hoyt has made recently. Maybe this RX-7 can beat it finally.

I truly like my RX5 and it shoots amazing. The first high bow I ever bought. However, with all the issues I had getting accessories for the for my Hoyt RX5, issues with nearly all my local bow shops when it comes to dealing with Hoyt specific bows, the limited upgrades on the RX7, and the high cost. I think I am going to get the Mathew's V3X and use my RX5 as a back up. After watching a lot of the reviews so far it's going to be hard to beat the V3X. Sorry Hoyt, when you get your act together I will jump back on board. In the meantime peace out. MFJJ outstanding content! Keep the videos coming. Cannot begin to express how extremely helpful and educational your videos are for this newbie bow hunter. To bad you are not on the east coast.

Update, bought a brand new Matthew’s V3X 33 and the three pin Spot Hogg. This bow is freaking amazing. However I did have some issues but not from the bow, from the dealer. They installed the incorrect switch weight mod “Twice”. Quality workmanship is extremely hard to come by these days! Waiting on the correct mods now, should get them in about a week. Then back slinging some arrows down range.

This year's PSE carbon bow is also $1,900. I realize people believe they are the ones who should set prices and want to determine how much a company makes off of each bow it sells, but it seems to be the industry price for a carbon bow. Carbon bicycle frames and wheels are also expensive. Hoyt has a $1,200-$1,300 bow.. and a $900 bow. As far as the speed goes, it has a 7" brace height.. so the speeds are going to be slower.. I'm looking at this bow and a Bowtech Revolt XL & Reckoning.. Will $600 matter if the bow feels significantly better than a $1,200 bow?
