I bought a Kona N and not a GTI, so easy answer from me there. I would have had to spring for the Autobahn edition GTI(I hate the plaid cloth seats in the GTIs with a passion), and where I'm at they were all 5k more than the Kona N. Having driven and ridden in multiple GTIs, although they're fantastic vehicles, I find the Kona N is more unique, has more character, is a little more raw of an experince and a bit more fun to drive, and of course it sounds better and comes with a better warranty. I'd take a Golf R over the Kona N without question, but for another 10k @ MSRP prices? Mayyybee... At another 15-20k with current markups everywhere? Absolutely not.

I took the Kona N over the GTI and a raft of other options. Bought our Sonic Blue Kona N on the last day of May and paid straight MSRP: Didn't pay for any dealer add-ons or "market adjustment" up-charge. This is the most entertaining vehicle I've ever owned. I'm 66 yrs old, but driving the Kona N makes me feel like a kid again. What Albert Biermann and Hyundai have done to create the Kona N is akin to what John De Lorean and Pontiac did to transform the LeMans into a GTO, except that, in terms of sheer performance head to head, the Kona N would leave the GTO in the dust. Time will tell whether performance car enthusiasts will come to think of the Kona N as "cool" and sexy. Maybe if someone recorded a song about "her." I can just hear it now: "Little Kona N, you're really lookin' fine Makes 300 at the wheel, torques to 289 Listen to her tachin' up now, listen to her why-ee-eye-ine C'mon and turn it on, wind it up, blow it out Kona N"

It’s a great car. Owned one but traded it in for the Veloster N. I wanted a manual, performance blue and a little more road feel. Kona N is fun, raw driving experience and practical. Great fast car for the money that’s super fun to drive.

What was the suspension setting? Seemed pretty stiff, especially if it was in normal mode. Do like the practicality of the Kona, roof rack options.

Most of the time in normal mode it’s tolerable but honestly never out it in N suspension unless you’re at a track or freshly paved roads

Suspention is configurable in all modes. You can run N Mode with standard suspension. Still is a little more stiff compared with a normal car, acceptable for me, though.

If Hyundai doesn't make this thing AWD like the nline then they need to go home... Like for real take a seat, sis.... FWD is SOO 2005...

This FWD system is actually better than a GTI or any other FWD system in this class for that matter. Test drove a Veloster N and had no problem pulling in and outta corners.
