R 700 000 vs R 530 000 top spec Haval H6
@robkennedy8103
@robkennedy8103 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve just ordered one. I did look at the H6 but in the long run I think brand value and long term resale will account for the price difference. The Hyundai brand in SA has done very well. With everything else being equal, my priority came down to the load deck with the seats folded down and the Tucson’s is the best in that area.

I actually just said this in my comment on the previous guy comments... what do u get back in the long run? but 1 thing is for sure Haval is priced to sell with all the bells and whistles
@BurnedNerd

Basically you are paying sooo much more for this car , but in the end of the day thinking of resale value for a car is like plotting when one might dump their partner to keep them fresh for the next person they find.... Buy something you will actually enjoy AND use it for all it is worth because everything loses value... is not a painting... If you Love the tucson for what you get then that is why you should buy it... never for resale, I made the resale mistake with so many cars and never got happiness in a car as I had with a car I actually wanted
@slowsloth8550
@slowsloth8550 2 жыл бұрын
@@BurnedNerd my opinion exactly as you mentioned it, I see no reason to be a first hand driver of a New Car and then also try to find means and ways of dropping it in the few years to come. That simply means I am not buying for a long hold. The Cherry (7 seater) and the Haval are definitely coming in with a full force and they are really claiming their spot into the Arena forcing the big brands to worry about their pricing - I really do not mind driving the same car for about 10 to 15 years based on reliability and service plan. Comfort is also what I need.
@SDav21
@SDav21 2 жыл бұрын
Buying a car for resale is silly because they all lose value. And with Haval becoming so popular, the resale won't be an issue anyway. The car market is in such a state that any second hand car has great resale. The same will apply to Haval. Spending 200k on the Hyundai because of resale is the silliest thing I've heard. Sorry to say.

test driven the h6 and am test driving this one tomorrow. yes the price difference is huge but with the chinese brands, and i have experienced this before with MG (in the Netherlands), it feels like the car is just not built by some one who drives themselves. For example, the H6 has a stop start function, but when it does this, the entertainment system turns off so when you are at a traffic light ,you cant adjust anything. also has material on the inside which just leaves marks everwhere. then it has no volume button or even climate control button except for on the touch screen with a tiny button somewhere on the touch screen, which is super unhandy to use while you are driving. I think this is where the Tuscon shows its better build quality compared to the H6, but will see how it feels when driving it tomorrow :)

The interior of the Haval H6 and Chery Tiggo 8 makes this Hyundai look a bit ancient. Also the price makes the Chinese offerings much more appealing. If only they came in diesel. It makes no sense that this is a whole extra car more than the Haval H6 and Chery Tiggo 8. For this price you can get a Haval or Chery and a second small city car.

Ever since watching your review of the H6 I can't bring myself to buy any of these other mid-size SUVs for their price when there's a Haval that offers way more for so much affordable price. Not to mention its good looks. This Tucson looks like a combo of RAV4 from the side, Peugeot 3008 from the rear. The interior is pretty nice & the cockpit gives me the Staria vibes. The front, well, not to my taste at all. Outgoing Tuscon still looks much better & if I were to choose between this & the Sportage, the latter is a much better choice. Anyways, Haval H6 you can have my money any day

Thanks for the review! For some reason Mitsubishi is never mentioned in these comparisons (but Mazda is). A real shame as comparing build quality and features they are simply a lot better value, and dare I say so - much better built. I'm sure they will outlast the Korean brands. The issue of slightly longer warranty out the box is a sales gimmick.. yes it's there, but you can easily add 2+ years to most brands for small chance. As an example the Mitsubishi Outlander can be had for price of the 2nd lowest spec Tucson and it's better in every way - even if the looks are subjectively older. (Very good AWD system, 7 seats, even an auto boot lid) If you can sacrifice a bit of space, the new facelift Eclipse Cross is fantastic - and you'll save a lot of money as well. Similar argument for the recently tested Subaru Outback - which was mentioned - it's simply in another class (but yes it's over R700k).

@@bernardjansen6205 had our 2.0l eclipse now for 2 years, many loaded trips with towing a trailer with 4 bikes on… its’s not a turbo charged 300kW diesel sure, but never felt underpowered. CVT gearbox is in fact great- had many over the years, Subaru, Honda even Audi’s “multitronic” which works similarly. All the reviewers who always complain about CVT’s do so from a racing point of view- as an everyday normal driver it’s a non issue. I’ve also had “nice” gearboxes in Wildtracks, Everest, VW’s, Caravelle Kombi’s etc etc that broke within the first 40000km for Ford and just past 100K in VW. (Audi at least made 140km) whereas the CVT’s never gave any hassle. They are good for 1 mill km’s with no risk, just maintenance (gearbox oil)… which would you prefer? The point here is that in this class of vehicle, the Mitsubishi is absolute value compared to the alternatives. Give it a try.

Less than 200nm for a SUV that size, 115 kw for petrol variants for that price? I can imagine how its gonna struggle carrying 3 passengers up a hill, not to mention a full load. Its starting to sound and look like the H6 is becoming the benchmark of pricing and spec in the mid sized SUV market in South Africa. Here you go Ciro! The term bells and whistles appears sometime in the nineteenth or twentieth century, it is assumed that it was in everyday use long before it was in written use. The term bells and whistles may have come from the various bells and whistles used as signals on locomotives, especially describing model trains and whether or not they came with “all the bells and whistles.” However, some believe that the idiom is derived from ornate organs at circuses or fairs. Still others believe the term bells and whistles is derived from the ornate organs employed at early film theaters.

On resale value: R500,000 car (Haval H6 or similar) looses 50% value over 3 years, you have lost R250,000. On a R700,000 car (Hyundai Touscon) you might loose less, like 35% over 3 years, you still lost R250,000. Yes, the remaining R450,000 is almost as much as what the Haval cost new, but you lost the same amount of money. So starting price matter, always. I never get the resale argument (apart from an exceptional scenario when 1 looses like 10% in 3 years and the other like 80%). On top of that, your finance cost (or opportunity cost for cash buyers) are based on R200,000 more. Over 3 years at 10% (on a simple finance cost principle) is another R60,000. And insurance is mainly driven by cost price, so is another R200-R500 pm more.

How did you come up with that prediction that the H6 will loose 50% of its value?😹
@daniemare23
@daniemare23 2 жыл бұрын
It’s hypothetical. Just like one does not know about the 35% for the Hyundai. It’s meant to illustrate the point that the resale argument is mute when the starting price is so far apart. And when you also include finance/opportunity cost and insurance in your consideration, you can just not FINANCIALLY, justify the Hyundai.

Bells and whistles' appeared many times in 18th and 19th century texts in literal references to warnings or promotional events. These contexts included citations about fire engines, the Salvation Army, circuses; anyone in fact that was trying to draw attention to themselves might do so using a bell or a whistle. Bells and whistles The current meaning of 'bells and whistles' is different. It refers to items that have a full array of additional features and extras. Cars and computers are just the right type of products to sport these additional features and it comes as no surprise to learn that it is in those technological fields that the phrase originated.

I actually though he was reviewing the bottom of the rang model as I saw a review on this a few weeks ago on a UK model and the interior is MUCH better with a larger screen and it doesn't even have a gear lever any longer, just buttons so wonder why they think they can get way with selling this downgraded version of the car here as a premium model.

I know what you talking about, it's like they downgraded it for the SA market but kept the same pricing.

I worked for Hyundai in 2013/2014 and the IX35 petrol was a complete dog as far as power, going up a hill you ended up gearing down all the way to 1st gear...the turbo diesel however was an absolute torque monster...and was way more expensive than the petrol...they clearly didn`t learn from that mistake...

This is Overpriced. Haval H6 way better with spec and power. Also looks. This Tuscon for me it's ugly in front and at the back they copied the Haval H6 with the tailight

people are not thinking right the only reason haval is so cheap is cause its a chinese piece of crap and its not gonna last so im better of going with toyota honda or mazda any day

R540K is cheap to you or is priced well? You are trapped and not open minded to say haval wont last hust because they are Chinese. Haval vehicles are quality, they offer great warranty and service plans what's there to worry about. Do your research and you will see why Haval keeps selling and why more and more south Africans are investing in them
