Great to see you with some big kites I always love seeing the big octopus kites. Looked like a awesome day and with us in the middle of a New Zealand winter I’m just a tad jealous. Keep it up and HAPPY FLYING to you too

Drayton, if I understand this correctly, you attached the pulley to the anchor, walked out some line from the bag and pulled the kite down from two points, those being before and after the pulley. Is this correct? Glenn Mitchell Reg. 11

That is correct. The kite was very close to the building behind it and there was no room to walk the kite down on the field like we normally would. The depth of the beach was too shallow so we experimented with the system. I’m sure there’s an easier way.

@@WorldsGreatestKiting I recently attempted a double pulley take down. One pulley was at the anchor, but not on the flight line. The second pulley was fastened to the flight line some distance away. In use, I could exert a mechanical advantage over the resistance of the kite, but the line management of the separate pulley line was a bit much. My main concern and perhaps yours is unearthing the sand anchor while grounding the kite. See you on the trail sometime when you are on the left coast.
