2022 KLX140RF TB Parts 170cc big bore install

Installed a TB Parts 170cc Big Bore kit in the wife's KLX140. Stock carb with Tusk jet kit and FMF PC4 exhaust. The bike has more torque everywhere which is just what a trail bike needs. If this bike only had a six speed it would be a legit little Dual Sport. LOL

What’s the long term review? Do you feel like the stock carb with the upgraded jets is enough?

For the type of riding my wife does (mostly trail) its perfect and has been completely reliable.

Did it pull up hills better in 3rd? Was the power increase noticeable?

Yeah with the velocity increase in the intake (stock carb) it has way more bottom end everywhere. We could probably give up some with a bigger carb and get more power on the top end.

I would like to know more. I bought my wife an I KLX150's. We are getting better at riding and I will probably want a bit more poke. We are both vertically challenged so we like the size and weight of the bikes. I just want to know as a ball park, how much more power you get from the BB kit. P.S. Its the most cost effective modification you can do for more power. Nothing else will provide you the power the big bore kit does at any cost. Be advised the kit I used has a higher compression piston so the bike requires 91 octane now instead of 87 (US 91 octane is 95 everywhere else), @@55commodore

Did the bike bog or hesitate when opening the throttle fast? Mine does and it’s the same bike and same building but with the vm26 carb.

I didn’t change the gearing so the top speed would be the same.

@@Feet_King Oh it makes it a lot quicker with way more power down low but without changing the gearing it will still redline at the same speed. It has enough power now that you could change the gearing for more top end if you wanted.
