I did the rounds and went for the P400 X 90, no V8 burble but the 3ltr Petrol with mild hybrid has just been great to live with day to day. My summary at the showroom was “its right, for all the wrong reasons” 👍

I wanted one exactly like this……. Waited eagerly for info, fought hard with the configurator……… then gave up and bought a SWB 2016 Shogun. I’ve not regretted my choice……and there’s a bit more room for my woofy in the back. LR didn’t properly replace the defender did they…… they made a different disco.

Enjoyed the review, it made me realise I’d go for the mid range diesel with great mileage all day long. But glad to see there is a market for these kinda cars when there are a lot of automakers that seem to be so god damn sensible.

Haha thanks. Yeah I feel we're at the end of the era where car manufacturers can justify putting a 5.0 V8 in anything they make. And yeah, the diesel's definitely a better fit for the Defender. It gets bad enough mpg already…

I like to think i could put up with the practicality issues, but that electric seat movement would drive me mad! Why over engineer it to be a pain in the arse???

It's biggest problem is the svr because its quicker, more comfortable and (in my opinion) looks better.

I just don’t understand how they got the rear seats so wrong as compared to the 1-10 version That bar and the raised seats not folding flush into the floor Blimey, even the Suzuki Jimny does it perfectly D’oh !!! Pity Land Rover won’t let you buy any of the decently powerful engines in the commercial hard top versions Then I could see the V8 or D300 as a replacement for my Shogun 4Work 🤬 The magnesium in black is nice too, much better than the normal white , that would be nice to option in a D300 too grrrrrr

Loved your comment about people thinking you're a knob if you buy one of these. You are quite correct. I've had my Pangea Green 110 for just over a year now and love that a) It cost me £47,400, even with a load of extras. b) It has the perfectly good-looking white steelies, rather than school-run alloys with urban thin-wall tyres and c) It's the 296bhp P300 engine, which doesn't make bell-end exhaust growl & crackle noises.
