Let alone test-driving it? Thank You, Tom. And tough driving conditions to the boot! Can't wait to lay my hands on one. If only EV Direct came to tango? Wishful thinking I presume? This seems to be a lot of car for the money. Well thought out in terms of the features they give you for the money. For entry level electric, auto opening boot, good number of physical buttons, sd card for recording, Speedo in front of the driver(yes I’m looking at you tesla), sunroof, rear windscreen wiper, fantastic camera views, and rotating centre display make this good value even compared to petrol cars. Good real life review. Is the 4 port power board the only option for V2L? If camping would be better to have a single power cord that you can put a cover over the join but a power board would need a full box to keep the water out. Do any EVs on the market have a seperate DC socket for solar panels so you could top up the power with a couple fold out panels? Or at least having a seperate 240v and 12v socket in the boot would be handy to draw power while charging via an external mobile battery pack and solar panels.

BYD uses a resistor of a special value in the type 2 plug to trigger V2L mode. Normally the value of the resistor determines the current rating of the attached cable. Once you find that out, you can get any kind of set up(as long as it doesn’t go over the inverter’s limit. Or a different limit set by BYD). (Ask a sparky), get a type 2 plug, get the correct cable, resistor, plug socket. There is no chip involved

Great initial review Tom. The car seems really impressive in person and that’s as a Tesla owner. The problem is the Australian warranty and servicing is not ok. Servicing costs are more than my 2021 diesel Ford SUV over 7 years. And the 6 year warranty has so many caveats it’s not even funny. Eg only 3 years in the screen and wheel bearings. And loads more caveats. Whereas NZ gets a proper 6 year bumper to bumper warranty.

Great video. Thanks for all the detail. You had tough conditions to deal with. I am feeling bitter sweet watching this however. I ordered two Atto 3’s in the first 5 minutes of them being available and I have not heard a peep about there being test drive cars available nor when my cars will be ready for pickup. Then I see that you get one to play with for a whole weekend! Seems like they give preference to the Media and KZbinrs over customers who payed a deposit. Takes the thrill out of the whole experience when there is little to no communication from the company but a heap from a third party. Nice car though. I look forward to seeing the rest of the test.

34:46 This is what bothers me about the touch screen prevalence in EVs. It took you 3 buttons to find the demister on a screen. My demister is a physical button in physical location on the steering wheel that I can hit within one second. I'd say demister and windscreen wipers are the most important thing to access while driving and need to be designed with that priority in mind.
@qilu20042 жыл бұрын
there are airflow button around the shift stick. the "auto" normally takes care of the mist.
@mondotv42162 жыл бұрын
I really think that comes down to familiarity. It was no easier to set demister and fan speed on my Mitsubishi or Hyundai. If anything the controls were lower down and more difficult than they are on my model 3. I had to take my eyes further from the road. Plus I can always just press a button and tell the car to turn the demister on or set a different temperature. Heck the Hyundai didn’t even have a front window demister setting. You had to change the mode to blow air on the windscreen which involved cycling through modes, setting fan speed and temperature and preferably turning on the air con because that cleared it faster.

After the voice control function is turned on, these operations can be completed by voice. Chinese users report that the voice recognition rate of BYD is very good, and I hope English voice can also be done well.

Apparently 7kW AC only but I will confirm in a future video

Great touch with smoke on the water, will be the tune most played on these strings worldwide.

Fantastic review one question is Tesla charging station can use for BYd?

Superchargers are only available for Tesla vehicles in Australia (Aug 2022)

If we got more of this cheaper EVs the AU government needs to do infrastructures built up to support it, otherwise hydrogen fuel is still the way go as re-fueling takes about the same time as for ICE.

I’ll need to see the cost analysis for rolling out hydrogen fuel stations vs installing EV chargers

@@LudicrousFeed Good point, for now the government should do more to make EVs/Hybrid/PHEV cars cheaper to acquire.

Is there a delay between depressing the pedal and the acceleration (how different is that responsiveness compared to Telsa 3)? Does it have it's own Sim card for Google maps etc/ internet data? How is the Bluetooth connectivity and continued connection? Thanks
@LudicrousFeed2 жыл бұрын
The regen braking despite its strength is almost instantaneous when the accelerator pedal is depressed
@jameskal6412 жыл бұрын
@@LudicrousFeed I think he meant is there a delay from pressing accelerator and car moving
@LudicrousFeed2 жыл бұрын
There appeared to be a slight lag between accelerator pedal and actual torque ... maybe a launch mode is needed?

Morning Tom, I watched a video yesterday from a channel called Tesla Economist, it was called (BYD test drive how different from a Tesla) This guys opinion is the car is unsafe in road holding and handling, and shouldn't be on sale. I have ordered a BYD, can I please ask for your honest opinion? Thanks ☺️

I suggest watching my handling and range test video - it’s fine for Australian conditions as far as I can tell

@@LudicrousFeed I watched your review, and it's awesome. Is there such a gap between a Atto 3 and a Tesla 3 in handling and performance?
@LudicrousFeed2 жыл бұрын
Both very comfortable vehicles. The suspension may be a bit softer in the Atto3. The regen braking is stronger in the Model Y and hence handles better imho

Does anyone know if you buy a Atto3 in Sydney but you pay evdealer group in Brisbane online and never seen the car before payment ? Is this safe and not a scam?

Instead of ''BUILD YOUR DREAMS'' just put big ''BYD'' logo at the back is better advertising for byd.
