2022 Rhythm X Full Ensemble Run WGI Indy 3-5-2022

2022 Rhythm X warming up in the lot at Franklin Central High School for the WGI show in Indianapolis, IN. This show sounds really cool musically and the battery is putting on a clinic in clean playing. Dudes are going to be dangerous next month in Dayton. Hopefully, we can get a few more vids of them out in the wild before then! The drums sound great and the arranging upfront is absolutely killer. Great job Rhythm X!

That's an unfortunate aspect of the activity in general. Most recently I can recall 1 on cyms in 2020 and bass 1 in 2018. Also partially based on location, most Cali groups have at least a few

Some of the first women in WGI PIW snare lines were in rhythm x and rcc way back in the day. When I was in the group in 2011 I don’t even recall seeing a woman at battery auditions outside of the cymbal line. I believe 4 women ended up playing cymbals that season. Moreover, Ohio and the surrounding states are a hotbed for independent groups in all classes. Rhythm X has cut male vets with 2 gold medals when other perspective members were a better fit. They recruit well and people go where their friends are if possible.

@@Ridebmx34521 straight up fax. The group I'm in has at least one women in every section. I'm sure it also has something to do with band directors at lower levels, when kids are assigned instruments instead of choosing.

This is such a loaded question and it’s so systemic at its heart. In my opinion, these words from Cassidy Calloway sum it up best, “Many accomplishments of pioneer female percussionists in modern history have been overlooked and forgotten. In my experience, even those prominent women who have found success in their percussion careers are rarely discussed in education. Similarly, women today face challenges being the minority in teaching and performance fields, as well as experiencing gender discrimination. Although the role of women in percussion may seem of concern to only those percussionists who are actively seeking opportunities to improve the diversity of professional percussion positions, it should in fact concern anyone who cares about diversifying the field of percussion and treating all individuals equally.”
