@@GambitGD I added 16 more making it 24 GB total. You can add as much as you want, challenge is just finding a single ram card that has the capacity you want since one of the ram cards isn’t swappable. Most I could find on a single card was 36 GB on Amazon.

This is a great video, I appreciate all the benchmarks provided. I just scored one of these for ~$920 after tax from Best Buy as well. Really impressed with the build quality, I briefly had the older style (2020?) and this one feels much more premium and performs that way. I think after seeing this I'll do the same upgrade to 24GB and also look at upgrading the WiFi module to AX210. Otherwise this is a perfect little machine.

@@kellandmclellan6710 sorry for a stupid question, but just to reiterate, an hour and a half is the best you get? Does it ever get better times when you don't play a game? I only ask because I thought this got better times when unplugged when not playing games. Im really considering buying this laptop. Its between this an the newer tuf a15 with the 3060 300hz screen. Everything I've found said they both get about 1 1/2 hours of game play unplugged and then the a15 got maybe 4-6 hours unplugged when not gaming and the g14 could potentially get up to 8-10 hours unplugged. Im not a huge gamer but I do enjoy playing and probably will get back into a little more after a purchase like this. Obviously being plugged in while playing games makes sense and doesn't bother me but it'd be nice to also be able to use it for a variety of other normal laptop things and have it stay alive. Being able to get a type c portable charger for the g14 is definitely an attractive feature but all in all itd be nice to still have a laptop thats at least somewhat truly portable. So advice from anyone on that would be helpful @N3XTGENTECH

I would open it back up and make sure all the connections near the trackpad area of the motherboard are nice and snug especially if you don’t recall it being around any moisture

Hey man! Great video btw. Just the exact video I've benn looking for in the internet for a while now. I currently own a 2022 Zephyrus G15 with 16gb ram (8+8) configuration with the 1st one also soldered to the motherboard. I was wondering if you could do a 8+32gb ram upgrade so we can know if it's actually better or worse than the 16 or 24gb ram configuration. Cause less % of your ram will be in dual channel, so performance might suffer in games a bit.

@@dillonchristiansen7016 For games it might be worse, it's random really, cause it depends on whether the game loads on the dual channel part of your ram. The more ram you add, the more the chances the game will use the single channel. I think the best in terms of performance is going for 24gb

RAM would not give any kind of temperature performances. Only thing that will boost performance is making sure you are not on BIOS revision 313 (Major bug in it that causes power fluctuations, aka temp increases), repasting your CPU/GPU, or using something to increase airflow (cooling pad). Alternatively, you can also disable TurboBoost (has little effect on performance when it comes to games) or undervolt your CPU(can have up to a 5% performance loss, but can drop temps as much at 10+ degrees C)

With the 16GB model, you can expand that up to 40GB in total. While the 32GB model will give you 48.

At the moment will only make a difference in very RAM intensive games which there aren’t too many. It’s more for future proofing but also like being able to run whatever software or what not in the background while playing a game it will help with frame consistency

All the ram modules i find are single channel does this matter? Whats the most ram I can use on the 2021 g14?

All ram sticks are single channel, so it doesn't matter. To run dual or quad channel you would need 2 or 4 ram sticks. In this case for 2021 g14, 8gb is soldered to the motherboard and you have 1 slot to add a ram stick. If you put in another 8gb, you will have 16gb running in dual channel. If you put in a 16gb stick, you will have 16gb in dual channel and 8gb in single channel. If you put 32gb, you will have 16gb in dual channel and 16gb in single channel. 32gb is the most ram you can put. Hope that helps!

So pretty much what I expected. Running asynchronous ram sizes throttles to the lowest stick size. Notice the performance hardly changed, and sometimes was even worse. IMO not worth the “upgrade”

I did it mostly for multi tasking purposes, I don’t play games very often so I wasn’t upgrading for that reason

Did you watch the same video we all did? For 3 of the games it dropped by 1-2 fps, 3 other games it improved it by 5-25 fps, for Forza it remained the same. Not to mention increases in cinebench and timespy. On top of all that, you can multitask much more now.
