2:33:43 Wesley So is very gracious and magnanimous about Firouzja after what must have been a very painful defeat. Kudos and much respect to Wes, a great sportsman and a genuinely likeable human being.

Yeah there’s more than a few players of the gentleman’s game who could learn how to be a gentleman, especially in defeat

Good coverage by Alejandro, Peter and Yasser, always lovely to hear from all of you. Congratulations to Alireza for his win here, in the rapid and blitz, and on the GCT. Very impressive stuff.

This is just a reminder why there was so much hype about Alireza being a potential world championship challenger

Will there be a closing ceremony? Or does everyone just want to go home? Understandable by the way.

Wesley will not become a WC. Here’s why. He treats chess now as very good income generator. Nothing wrong with this, but in order to be invited in major tournaments he has to maintain his rankings and always be in the top ten. He accomplishes this by being very solid in positional plays and taking less risks. He then loses any killer instinct he has and always play on the safe side.

Looking at Nepo stay and talk to Alireza, I feel that Hikaru never talks when he loses is bad sportsmanship

Dude Hikaru literally speaks to Magnus everytime he resigned a game. You can find them in KZbin. Don't spread hate bro!!!

@@kevinprasad_8434 I shouldnt say never. but he didnt talk when he lost candidates.

@@grownupgaming Well, yeah obviously nobody is going to be happy enough to talk everytime they lose! You know, it happens right!
@mikewilliams5922 жыл бұрын
@@grownupgaming It's not *bad* sportsmanship to NOT stay and talk, but it's just a decision some make and some don't at one point or another for their own reasons (move curiosity, etc). It's not an expected action post-game, so it's not considered "in bad sportsmanship".

Magnus won by putting Hans in his place. Put some respect on Magnus name! Hans, always remember there is always 2 chess games going on. The game on the board and the psychological game. Never voluntarily give your opponent an opportunity to beat you. Talking smack before 50% of the games is over was foolish. I hope he learned a lesson.
