I guess thanks for the content - but whoever is driving when you do your manual 0-100 tests seems to have a really weird way of taking off - looks like just floor it and dump the clutch when the revs hit an arbitrary amount 😂 As I said, thanks for the video, but just thinking that won't help your 0-100 in most cars. These numbers appear a fair bit below other tests that I've come across (for manual) but about right for auto.. anyway, cheers

I don’t think it’s necessarily faster in 95% of scenarios. It just has a better 0-100 because you can launch it. But both off the line with no launch it’s probably about the same, manual maybe just faster due to the extra auto weight

Would have been interesting to see how much faster they are. Like for comparison, the older sr5 manual you tested a while back is as fast as the new Rugged x (updated 2.8) automatic.

Got any tips? Not sure what else we can do. This is the best result we got on the day, using a Racelogic Vbox Sport. We’re based in Australia. What timing gear and what country are these 5.x runs? Any rollout? What sort of fuel?

@@PDriveTV don't bother replying mate. These 5.x times are most likely 1 foot roll out times or on the strip Or a perfect stretch of road done many many times. Your times are the most realistic because it's on the road no one has a perfect stretch of road or access to a drag strip 24/7 . Keep up the good work

5.x is definitely with rollout and only 0-60mph, not 0-100kph (0-62mph).

My friend did 14.81 @155 km/h in his 2022 BRZ auto with just a very cheap eBay Catback. That puts his 0-60 time somewhere around 6.7. I think the manual version can easily touch mid to high 5s 0-60 and 14 flat to high 13s with a good prepped surface and a low DA.

@@jordanbain7803 They’re 4 cylinder N/A sports cars. Handling is the main focus. Acceleration is adequate and some have already gotten 13.8 1/4 mile with the manual. If 13.8 is crap and slow then so is 13.2.

It doesn’t. There isn’t a proper video on KZbin showcasing the auto in manual mode. My auto gr86 gets 5.7 seconds 0-60 in manual mode. When not in manual mode, the car short shifts at around 7100 rpm instead of 7400 rpm causing noticeably worse 0-60 times like in this video

My gen 1 auto used to do 7.4 seconds to 100kmh i don't believe these results are accurate after an almost 50whp bump. But wow that braking performance is pretty good 0.1 seconds and 2 metres away from you guys' 911 turbo s test

We’re not sure how to be more accurate. Racelogic timing equipment are certified for Guinness Records, and that’s what we use. Also, what timing gear are you using to get 7.4? We doubt the previous auto model could achieve that in stock form.

@@aaron5726 Yeah timing from the speedo is not very accurate at all. Most speedos are out by anywhere between 3-10%, on purpose. This is to cover the car manufacturer from legal troubles 👍 Edit: From *potential legal troubles

Did you use paddle shifters in the auto cause I can't tell if you did? probably just needs a Roar throttle controller slot in the air filter and a Catback exhaust and maybe a tune when tunes come out for these cars! if you want a tune! of course, increase the displacement! also noticed in the weather was 23 degrees when using the manual and 25 degrees when using the automatic, not though that would have made a difference, and have these cars had oil changes also.

The issue with NA motors, even with bolt-ons and a tune, you won't get much more power from them. That piston is ONLY going to suck in so much air, not unless you put in much bigger cams, its not going to breathe that much better

That's bc the BRZ is actually only about 30hp less than the new WRX. The new twins' horsepower number is underrated from factory, it's more like 245 than 228.

Best thing about pdrives performance tests are the REALISTIC on the road acceleration figures . Not on the strip or a perfect stretch of road . Most Aussie b roads are rubbish at best

Different weights make a slight difference, and sometimes the heavier weight can outperform a lighter weight. But it’s not long until brake fade sets in sooner with heavier cars, after repeated stops. We always test cars at least 3 times with the Vbox and use the best result - the video is not timed, only a demo.

The auto was geared to be slower because this car was meant to be "drifted'" or driven around curves and that is best with Manual or so they say. I have an automatic with paddle shift and i have fun around those curvy roads with ease using paddle shifting ...

The need to upshift to 3rd gear is slowing it down, that’s why for example caranddriver got a 5.4 0-60mph and a 6s 0-62mph aka 100kmh, this 6.6s is pretty slow, probably needs a driver mod

Do Car and Driver add rollout? Because we can't see how this could achieve 6.0 seconds in standard form. Keep in mind Australia usually has poorer quality fuel than some places overseas. At the end of the day this is the best result we got from this car. We tried as hard as we could, doing a heap of runs with the Vbox (the video is not timed). Would you rather we just lied and made up a quicker time?

If you look closely, There's no added benefit of revving the engine above 7,200RPM (which is the peak point for this engine when it comes to sheer output). It might sound a little more exciting with the manual version, but the automatic version is programmed to shift to the next gear exactly at 7,200RPM.

Thats the younger generation for ya, they want the manual to bang thru the gears and look COOL ... Yea so what the manual is .5 sec faster down the 1.4 mile in this car ... Im not racing every tom dick or harry from light to light. I drive my car to enjoy the car and fell the motor roar. Not having to worry about shifting is one less thing i have to worry about. And if i want to feel the engine rev out in each gear, throw her in paddle shift mode ... when done, flip back to D and enjoy.

Because it would needs a completely new and different driveline rated for 400nm, bigger wheels, brakes, and beefed up suspension. The CoG would need to be raised because the FA24 turbo goes underneath the engine which would need to be lifted…the entire car would be taller. It would weigh 150kgs more, and cost between $60k and $70k. Still interested?

Those numbers are the worst I’ve seen reported for the car anywhere. Interesting. And the auto is barely any quicker than the previous Gen and Toybaru were claiming 6.6 0-100 for the auto (a 1.4 sec improvement on the old model!) Pretty disappointing numbers all round really. Every test I’ve seen done on the manual so far has recorded between 6.1 & 6.3 0-100 (Motor recorded 6.21 in their Sports Car of the Year evaluation) and 400m about 0.5 secs faster than your 14.7…so both these cars are well off the pace.

You shouldn’t really compare different tests because it all depends on so many variables. Weather, surface grip, timing gear, timing method (any rollout), weight of the car/driver all make a difference. We do these videos so you can compare our own times with other cars. All of our tests are recorded the same way by the same driver and on the same piece of tarmac. And they are real-world results; we’re not intending to try and find the absolute world record time for each car. Hope that helps.

@@PDriveTV Rollout is cheating and why I dismiss most US figures. But these cars are definitely off the pace. Most of the 0-100 times recorded on your channel usually lean on the “aggressive” side of average numbers. These are, by far, the worst numbers I’ve seen for this car.
