2022 Tesla Model Y Performance Tire Rotation Nonsense

Sharing how and what I use to rotate the tires on my Model Y.
To clarify - the Performance has different size tires on the front and back which is why I’m rotating them side to side.

The correct socket size is 21 mm, the correct torque spec is 129 foot pounds, the tires are offset that is why they rotated side to side. The correct information during the video would've been extremely helpful. YMMV.

Suggestion: Maybe you could drive on some pieces of wood to raise the front high enough to get the jacks under the car without having to take off the ring on the jack?

my MYP the OEM comes with Michellin All Season tires, i was told we can't even rotate side to side because of the tire tread directional problem. hmm

I’ve heard that on others as well. Just depends on the tire. Ours are Pirellis and don’t say anything about being directional so I’ve been rotating them side to side.

I am certain that the Michelin’s on the 21 inch Uber turbine are rotational side to side. The tires are bidirectional.

Hi guys does anyone know why they say these 21" staggered rims wont fit on a model y standard range (rwd). Seems just fine to me. Same frame same offset etc compared to the 19's?

Nice. I’m getting the same MYP. Did u happen to PPF your black paint? Also how’s the tire wear been? Not much info online on making a squared setup.

I didn’t PPF the paint but wish I would have. We had quite a few chips right off the get go on the front from a long trip we took - wasn’t aware of the paint issues before hand lol.

Regarding the tires - they have been doing really well for us. We have almost 20k on them and no signs of needing new ones.

@@walk.steady Thanks. Apparently the Fremont plant has restriction issues from state’s environmental laws, effecting things like amount of paint & clear coat on vehicles, unlike Texas

When you jacked the rear wheels up did the car move at all since the parking brake only locks the rear wheels? Thx, Carl

I did not notice any movement in my case but would recommend using a wheel chuck or something.

Are the MYP tires omni-directional?

The rear is a different size than the front so can't do front to back. I did not see anything on our tires about them being directional so side to side should be fine. I would double check your specific tires if you have one before doing it but the tires we have are omni-directional.

@@walk.steady If they are P-Zero's they are omni-directional. They state "Outside" on the wall so side to side rotation is required with staggered sizes on the 2023 MYP.
