I'm not taking away from these guys, they definitely have some skill at foosball. After watching these guys, I just can't believe how good we were when I was a kid. Thank God the adults taught us how to play without spinning, brought back some fun memories of the skating rink.

@ Yes, I normally shoot from the 2 players. I use bank shots, pull and push. I can push the ball and score with an opposite side bank shot. I will occasionally shoot from the back to surprise people. It has a lot of force, probably the hardest shot I have. You can’t see any of my shots when I hit them.

i grew up playing foos since 1970-2000. i loved going to these tourneys but just got uninthused with the game and did other things for a few several years. after about 10 years i started watching and going to these games. but alas it was the same tourneys, same shots, different players. Got boring all over again quick. So we got us a group together and had our private tourneys and rule number one was you cannot do same shot twice to score. makes everyone have to learn different shots. Revitalized our games anyway.

Sounds awesome. I think that rule makes sense to make things less repetitive. Sadly in Israel we only have like 1 bar with a pretty bad table, but I met some guys there and we used to meet for beers and foos. Flew to Berlin once and visited this Foosball-centric bar, and was blown away with the level. Some 60+ years old guy with a custom glove destroyed me effortlessly. First time seeing snake shots in real life, I was totally geeking out since the best we could on our table were some shoddy pullshots. Really makes me feel like playing again

I started watching these Foosball videos of modern day play and one thing that I keep seeing is that people just don't know how to properly defend a goal, whether singles or doubles. I did see one video where the guy was defending properly about 70% of the time, but then would switch and get hammered. That was a doubles event where Tony Sprederman was on Offense and his partner D'Moto was playing defense. I grew up in the days of TS (Tournament Soccer fame), and my specialty was goalie, and I am just not seeing the skill at goalie that we had in the late 70's and early 80's.

@@mmahunter Today's players are not world class. They can't make money at it so there isn't much incentive for the players that are or could be a lot better to do the circuit. Take a look back at the mid to late 70's when players were making 6 figures playing the game. That is when you truly had World Class Players. People are not going to spend the time perfecting a game they can't make a living at or support a family with.

I only played a handful of pro's, top being a guy named Bob Kurtin from Michigan, (I played him, and pro friends at a bar for a few weeks in Grand Rapids Michigan around 1993ish.), but I can make my shots as much or more on these guys as they can on me, (We built a bigger menu of shots). My problem is, they are a lot better than me with the 5-man passing. I could never get the left hand coordination down. Simple. If you can't get the ball up front, you can't make the shot. I prefer serving the new ball than just giving it to the guy. If there is a good reason for that, I would love to see it.

there sure is bunch stupid rules , Todd is clearly better player, rules as they are, well go back and count CLEAN SHOTS, luck or slop shots, bank shots, rushed or hurry up shots, why this game will never grow any more than what it is today. If the shot isn't clean or planned, it shud never be counted, nobody wants to win on ball that ricochets off two guys n wall, n barely rolls in. wheres ref ? hitting on waitress . at least its quiet in whoevers basement they're playing in and not a crowded bar where ppl are bumping in players where championship game is being played, for the money organizers are making off participants, they cud a lot more for sport than the lil they do .....RULES N VENUE biggest problems
@sf657
@sf657 2 жыл бұрын
Why would you only count clean shots? I dont know any sport where only clean shots count. In Football/Soccer there are deflected shots, same with handball. If it hits the target it hits the target no matter how. The players can ask for a ref if they want to, but normally it is based on fair play. If there is a ref for every game you would need to many of them even though they are not needed in most cases. Most foosball events, at least in Germany are played in pretty big locations with enough space.

@@sf657 ITS ABOUT TALENT, EXPERTISE , HONOR, obviously you have never been in a match with another opponent who was equally talented, then to win from not one but two balls that were meant to be passes , but you missed stop, ball angles off yours touches another and slowly rolls in , giving you win....something only you cud walk out and hold your head up and graciously accept. many ppl dissapprove of these rules not being what they are suppose be fair and impartial , NOT FINAL , OR JUDGMENTAL . HAVE YOU EVEN READ RULES. NO BLUE JEANS, NO BOOTS, WHAT DO THOSE RULES HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE SPORT? SHORTS ARE OK. YOU CALL TORNADO A SPONSER? FOR WHAT ? DID THEY DONATE TO ANY TOURNAMENT , EXCEPT VEGAS, NOTHING BUT THEIR APPROVAL USE OF NAME, MANY OTHER TABLES OF EQUAL QUALITY, AND SHUD BE USED IN A NATIONAL AND GLOBAL TOURNAMENTS, WHY SPORT DIED ONCE AND WILL BE DEAD AGAIN, IT MEAN S NOTHING TO TORNADO ONLY TO ORGANISERS WHO REALLY MAKE MONEY

@@jonblack6624 Is this your first time to watch these 2 players? Todd Loffredo is an absolute legend in foosball. But to say he is clearly the better player against Tony Spredeman, who's considered the greatest singles player ever to play the game, is ludicrous. Now perhaps this match isn't the best one for you to gauge these players because they were playing a lot of unorthodox shots. If this was the world championships final match, neither would be playing like they are here. Not to say that what they were doing here wasn't impressive and a great display of skill. But in the bigger matches, they would be playing with a more serious style and more consistent shots. But you are right, no one wants to win by slop. But it happens. Especially in singles matches. Just like shooting and defense, having the ability to keep out some of that slop is a great skill in of itself. So instead of focusing on the few slop shots that go in, instead look at the many that they amazingly keep out of their goals using extremely quick reflexes and ball location awareness. "TABLES SHUD NOT BE MODIFIED FOR COMFORT OR MANUFACTURERS WUD PRODUCE THEM THAT WAY" What does that mean? Are you talking about the players using wraps on the handles. That must be what you're referring to because nothing else is added or taken away. Unless you count them putting silicone on the rods. And what's wrong with them using wraps? Golfers wear gloves when playing for better grip. Same with baseball and football (American). And who gives a shit how many times the players switch? First off, switching doesn't happen that much on average anyways. And when or if it does, it's usually a strategic tactic. Which only enhances the game, giving it more complexity. None of that is a bad thing.
