great video thanks! love what you did with the rear cabinet - we are thinking about taking our microwave out too and could def use the space in the bed area! we have ebikes too - and can't even imagine lifting them up so high! good job!

We have a little foldable step that we also keep in the expedition box. I probably should have mentioned that but I was too excited to go explore Joshua Tree and the first round filming the video Lindsey didn’t see that the lav mic battery died so I had to refilm a bunch of stuff so I may have rushed it a bit. The trick is to park the van with the back tires in a dip so then it’s lower to get the bikes up.

Have you heard that Thor has officially issued a recall for the peeling wallpaper throughout the van. I know it's not a big deal, but if you want a dealer to freshen up that peeling wallcovering and trim, they will do it at no cost to you. I was told this yesterday by another owner.

That’s good to know. I already had the dealer fix it once and now it’s peeling again. It’s an issue with the products they are using

It was a bit tricky to be honest but we got it done. I used a saw with a metal blade to cut through the screws for the back corner just take note not to cut any wires or into the cabinet. Take your time and do it with precision and care

Enjoy your videos and your adventurous spirit. We purchased a sanctuary 19 L last year and disappointed with the workmanship when you consider the price of this unit but travelled for three weeks to Newfoundland and it ran well. Was wondering if anyone noticed the heat that transfers from the fridge through the wall which is annoying if you are in warm weather and this is right next to where you sleep.
@Bradscottvisuals Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. We spent 10 days camping in the desert and I know exactly what you are talking about. I'm not sure if the heat was coming from the Refridgerator or the fan from the inverter but it heats up the bed area like crazy. We were roasting.
@gabydarling4606 Жыл бұрын
Yes it does heat up bed for sure. We think it may be the fridge which is why it’s unfortunate it doesn’t vent outside.

I'm looking at new Tranquilities right now, and I can't get over how cramped it is to get into bed. It's such a tight squeeze. Also, the new year models do not come with the step into bed. They changed that, unfortunately, so you have to hop in which is super awkward. It's either the Tranquility or a Travato, and just deal with the lack of 4x4. The other Sprinter 4x4s are either way too much $ or the bed is too small.
@Bradscottvisuals2 жыл бұрын
Have you looked at the 19P floor plan? That might be a better option if the new 19L doesn’t come with a step. You need the step to get into bed it’s so tall.

Nice video, Joshua Tree is awesome. My wife and have the 19P with two small dogs and Love our van too. In the beginning of the video I noticed that the rear of the Van also dips down like ours. Dealers said it's due to weight of Generator and Propane. Not sure that's the case because other similar vans don't dip. Any thoughts?

Hey Brad. Just found your video. Thanks for all the great ideas. Adorable dog. We purchased our 2022 Tranquility 19L in January and we do love it. Question for you...since most of the travel we do is "off grid", we don't want the Winegard 2.0 drawing power. We can't find an on/off switch in the van and have heard that Thor stopped putting a switch in. 😑 We are not interested in putting in a sim card or paying for their internet service. We'll just use our phones (the installed WeBoost helps with service). But, we'd like to keep it on the van in case we are near a town and want to watch some local TV. Have you dealt with this issue and do you have any thoughts. We believe our next step is to try to find the dedicated wire for the Winegard and wire a switch, or find the fuse that operates it. Haven't gone down that rabbit hole yet! Thanks again for your video!

Another quick question: I'm planning on working full-time on my computer in whatever van I get. Where do you do most of your work in the van? Does that table move close enough to the swiveled passenger seat? Do you think I could add a larger external monitor somewhere?
@Bradscottvisuals2 жыл бұрын
The lagoon table moves over to the passenger seat which is the most comfortable seat to work in for long periods of time. The tv mount swivels so you could probably change the tv for a better computer monitor and use the same mount. I just work off of my laptop when I’m in the van.

Thanks for your great videos. They've been pretty helpful and given us a good idea of what to expect when we pick up our Tranquility 19L in a few days. I want to get rid of the Thule bike rack too (we'll put them on a tray under the bed). How difficult was it to remove the bike rack and mounting bracket? I assume there were holes left in the door, so how did you cover them? We'll eventually add the Owl tire carrier and a Sherpa rack with an expedition box
@Bradscottvisuals Жыл бұрын
The Thule bike rack is secured to the door by side mounts that basically pinch on to the side of the door. If it was installed properly it should have some sort of adhesive as well which ours didn’t so there was some damage to the doors. We had to drill holes into the door to mount the owl vans b2 carrier and spare tire carrier. When you install those you have to pop out the inside rear door panels. I suggest getting some havlock wool and insulating the rear doors when you do that.
@cobisan Жыл бұрын
@@Bradscottvisuals Oh, ok. Not at all how I would have expected the rack Thule to be installed, but that makes sense now that you explain it. I've got the Havlock in hand already and plan to hit the back and slider doors, plus any other deficient areas. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the informative video. We too have a 19L that is fairly recently purchased.Early February. I've done all the exterior mods you have except the Owl box. I opted for Toyo's and Method wheels which is a huge improvement as far as drivability . I also installed the Sumo bump stops which also helped tremendously , particularly in a cross wind. I'm with you on the fit and finish being a little shaky, but I figured saving 40,000 + on the next step up, I can live with it. What generator did you purchase , and probably a dumb question, but do you just plug it in and fire it up as you would plug into shore power.? My girl and I both take our dogs and I'm thinking with summer approaching the Owl box and generator are the next step. Cool mods on the inside as well. Cheers. Many Thanks RS

Update 5/18: Ended up with a Champion dual fuel 3500 inverter generator. Runs the A/C really well and charges the lithium batterie as well. I have it rigged to operate on the bbq quick connect , which is really convenient . I think it might be a little big for the Owl Box though.
@thedalillama2 жыл бұрын
@@rayswiney7398 Is running the car to charge the battery not an option? Too much waste? I'm debating a small generator. The specs say it will run for 7 hours on a gallon of gas. I figure 3 gallons can be strapped to the outside. That doesn't sound like a great solution. It would be more appealing if the generator was diesel. The fuel can would have a dual use
@rayswiney73982 жыл бұрын
@@thedalillama Mercedes says not to idle the vehicle for any extended period. Will basically ruin your DPF regeneration filter, consequently destroying your motor. Unfortunately, Thor advises you do exactly that and forget the generator. Guess you could go for a drive if you trust leaving your camp unattended. I just returned from a trip where in the late morning at battery level 65% , run my Champion Dual Fuel 3500 for an hour and get the batterie to 100%. Managed to slightly modify the generator regulator to run off the bbq outlet. Works really well and uses very little propane. Thanks RS
@thedalillama2 жыл бұрын
@@rayswiney7398 Ouch. Not what I wanted to hear after pricing out the B2 carrier and Owl box... and replacement bike rack. Adding a generator ends up being $5k if I want to store it outside! A roof box is another option, but there's not much room up there. I thought about getting a wide box and gluing a flexible solar panel to compensate for the solar I would be losing. I can't wait to pick the damn van up so I can sort this out. There's not enough details on dimensions readily available. It's frustrating. Thank you for the info.
@thedalillama2 жыл бұрын
