Hahah thanks I guess? Build quality is good with some areas of concern. Chief being the panoramic sunroof liner. It’s a large area and it’s unsupported in the middle so it could sag over time especially if kids etc push up on it often enough

This is a great review. Perfectly explained the hybrid system. This car is a perfect daily driver for someone who lives in a city like Mumbai or Bangalore where it sometimes takes 1 hour to cover 10 kms. Not every car needs to be a 140 bhp pocket rocket with 6kmpl city mileage.

Pricing for the Hyryder is out in the next week, expected under Rs 19 lakh ex-showroom for the top Hybrid variant. ARAI certified FE at 27.97kmpl

I loved this car the first time I looked at it. Toyota needs a champion car now to keep itself relevant. Seriously Toyota can't depend on Fortuner and Innova forever. It desperately need this Hyryder to click. Personally I feel a diesel hybrid would have been better. (Dunno if anything like diesel hybrid exists or not. Would love to be educated about that). If I had the money, I would definitely have purchased this car. Best of luck Toyota. Well presented OD.

Is this more of Toyota or more of MS? What i mean is if this Hyryder feels solid when going over bad stuff or rattly like what MS is infamour for. Just curious, heavy packers as most of us are in this country, how much load can the boot partition take? Would you recommend this for someone who is also looking at(or rather waiting for) ScorpioN? Mostly City driving, 4-5 ~600kms roadtrips per year atleast. Not looking for offroading but good GC is always appreciated on our roads no?

Feels (surprisingly) solid, no rattles but these cars were brand new. No confirmation on the boot separator load capacity but even with the heaviest of suitcases, the load will be spread over the supported and unsupported areas so shouldn’t be an issue. This or Scorpio N? That’s a much larger car, with perhaps a more bombproof feeling ride. But we do know the Mahindra petrol and diesels aren’t particularly efficient so there’s that 🤷‍♂️

Maruti Suzuki Toyota Hyryder : when price announcement differed, something fishy

For the most part styling is good on the Hyryder but there are bits which could have been done differently like the bottom taillight section with indicators and reverse lamps. As for the interior, it looks sub par as the bits sharing goes to the extreme with components flowing in from cars in lower segments. Hybrid tech is indeed the best balanced technology and should be offered by more manufacturers, but seeing what City Hybrid does in terms of performance, while maintaining good mileage; 0-100 of 12 secs looks slow. I am not too hopeful on the price as hybrid tech costs quite a bit and should be at par with City hybrid; but if indeed its priced at 18.5 lakhs, then Toyota will sell in big numbers.

Yup, interiors don’t wow, except for maybe large areas of the soft touch materials around. As for all out performance, it’s a good thing we don’t live our everyday lives racing from traffic light to traffic light eh?

Nice review! I came here to understand more about the performance mainly and thanks for covering that without a lot of drama and unnecessary vocabulary! next time, please add the kickdown acceleration too when one has to pass that slow moving thing in front hogging the lanes.

Thank you! As for kickdown performance, it’s adequate even for highway overtakes but note: full throttle acceleration can get noisy. Some planning and rolling on the throttle will go a long way

Boot space is a big trade off even if you go with mild hybrid. Overall an average product. Anyone wants to buy this vehicle should go with strong hybrid.. else you have suzuki Brezza or Toyota urban cruiser with same 1.5 lt k engine and power from Suzuki.

They overpriced it by around a lakh. The on-road price for the Hybrid variant is around 23 lakhs, which is 2 lakhs more than the City Hybrid and City has more tech and features than Hyryder.

Comparing Hyryder Neodrive Automatic Vs Hyryder eCVT hybrid automatic , the difference is anly around +2L which you can recover within 5 years with additional 5+ Km more mileage and you get a refined driving experience!! I have booked Hyryder Hybrid eCVT.

I just don't like the centre console, it's too deep, any comfortable car centre console height level should reach to the seat level or above, the engine should have been a covered in some part, it's too open and can dirty easily, the vehicle can little taller so that we get little more head room, the rest is ok

It is a Toyota motor, the M15A FXE 3-cyl that’s also in cars like the Corolla/Yaris Hybrids. The Hybrid has a Toyota engine, the mild hybrid has a Maruti Suzuki engine
