Bought the exact same model 8 months ago except mine is red. I can't imagine driving anything else offroad or on road. I don't put as many miles as you do on the truck as you do. So I'm hoping to keep this truck forever. Thanks for a great review. You made me happy with my decision.

Thx for sharing. Appears from the video we have a few things in common as follows: 1. I previously owned a Trailhawk that I loved but beat her up. 2. Recently purchased a TRD Off Road 4x4 myself. 3. The truck is tool, plain and simple 4. You appear to have the exact same double walled steel water bottle sitting on your passenger seat that I use myself. 5. Agree about the value of the vehicle's capabilities. Thanks again for your follow up 1yr opinion post sir, much appreciated~

Ty for the review, didn't know this existed really bc my S. carolina city pushes basic SR5, trd sport, fords, chevys, and dodges first; which i test drove quite a few...almost bought a used 2022 with Gox suspension system where the adaptive powertrain was so smooth in a used TRD offroad compared to anything else...it even had an accident on the carfax which freaked my fam out. Anyways, so glad I bought the showroom TRD offroad with stock bilstein shocks brand new at 40k w warranty at the reliable dlrship near me; when BMW plant workers were buying this thing left and right years ago, I knew I had to try to keep a VEH known to go 300k when i have driven past stuff to 120k to 137k. I dig the dark mode screen display for apple car play, the old school ebrake, HVAC knobs, bc a 40k edge with huge tablet is too touristy with a phobia of electronic failure, touch screen misfires, and electronic ebrakes freaking outdoorsman out with the weird Ford look of the new Taco (2024). I agree with everything, and if you buy another 3rd gen...recommend ceramic coating and xpel tint for the southern heat, clay, mud, and rocks. Now, I can't stop seeing new tacos and runners being bought as the 4th gen is really a step back (imo) with too much potentially overheating electronics including the ebrake...hate that ford does the big screen and that Turbos are real expensive to fix and are abused (as a previous BMW seller)

But in the woods, in the mall parking lot, in the city with parellel parking, in the mud, sand, etc. I want the tacoma all day long. there is no way to win here. its either big and roomy but a pain in the but in urban areas and sucks in the tight woods, or great in urban areas and great in the wood and more cramped on space.

For future reference when a windshield cracks again, and it’s still smaller than a dime immediately go to your local window shop and asked to get it epoxy filled what it does is it seals off the crack preventing it from spreading for an eternity. it cost around $50-$60 but it’s definitely better than buying windshields.

I'm curious about what your thoughts are on the Toyota Tundra 2021 and below that has the 5.7L V8 in it? I know you've owned F-150's and The Ram 2500, and the Jeep etc. But do you generally like having a midsize over a full size truck? Also how is the Tacoma on road trips?
@Jason-Samko
@Jason-Samko Жыл бұрын
The 21 and older tundras are amazing and will last for ever. Only downside is they get absolutely horrible gas mileage. I loved having full size trucks for the road trips and hauling etc. but in the woods and in the city I much prefer the mid size. Especially in the woods. there are many places a full size truck will never be able to go but a mid size can. even crossing road wash outs etc where a full size would hang up do to length. But the mid size has less room inside. its all a trade off. there is no perfect option. This tacoma is the most capable truck i have ever owned off road. and I have not got it stuck yet. every full size truck I have owned would of been stuck a dozen times over in the places this taco has taken me.

@OceansideCreations sold it because of my life style of 300 miles a week in the swamps of south ga. I needed more capability and I needed to be able to used my rear locker in 4 high (the tscoma can't do). In those 300 miles it's sand and mud lanes with big mud holes every half mile or mile. It was exhausting to have to stop at each hole, shift into 4 low, then rock back and forth to get the rear locker to engage, then drive thru the hole and repeat the process to get back into 4 high only ro do it all over again a mile further. The tacoma is an amazing truck and I loved it. And one of the most reliable trucks ever made. That's the reason I bought it. Bit I needed more. So I sold it and bought a 23 gladiator rubicon. Front and rear lockers, put 35s on it and can use all of my lockers in 4 high and even use my rear is 2wd. For my lifestyle hunting full time in the swamps the gladiator fits me better.

The maverick is a very nice truck and Ive always had great luck with fords. But im not gonna lie. I love this tacoma and its one of the last vehicles that will ever have this kind of long term reliablity with everything going to turbo little motors.

@SamkoWorkShop exactly my thought process. I want something I can ride into ground over the next 10+ years and the maverick just isn't designed for that. I value reliability over all else and I'm kicking my self for not going with a tacoma to begin with. With the direction the 4th gen taco is going it looks like this will be the last v6 taco. Good thing they are offering me 3k+ over msrp for my maverick trade in.
