Sounds like the usual crankshaft bearing failure issue with these Tundra twin-turbo engines (mostly years 2022-2023 so far). They replace the twin turbos because any parts that would have oil flowing through them could have been damaged by the metal fragments that were found in the oil pan. Toyota is having dealers replace the short block (essentially the engine block, crankshaft, and pistons, plus other components). This probably does not include the heads, intakes, starter, alternator, and other items bolted to the engine.

Someone recently posted an excellent video, explaining that the oil path probably is blocked only in regard to oil that travels to the very first crankshaft bearing and oil to the first connecting rod bearing. This would explain why in some videos only the front crankshaft bearing was destroyed. The other bearings still received oil and survived. Either way, this kind of "error" is very strange for a company that is supposed to be a superior product. I am hopeful to see someone in the future proves this engine went 200k miles with no issues.

it's actually both partie's fault the turbos on those things arent just little regular turbos, they're these MAASSSIVE turbos that they put on those things, giving alot more pressure than your average turbo and the engine's fault too, its built too weakly without seemingly any form of reinforcement, so they recieve too much pressure to handle from the turbos and they die, it's the equivalent of supercharging a small displacement non-reinforced engine

This is not just happening with new tundras and tacos. I bought a brand new 2022 Tacoma at the end of 2021. I was happy because it was my first time buying a new car. It was Saturday night when I left the dealership driving my new truck. On Sunday afternoon the transmission did the same noise and bump like your tundra and all the lights came on and it never turned on. They gave another brand new Tacoma the next day, but anyways they screwed me up because now my new Tacoma has an $10k negative equity because they replaced it as a trade in. So I ended up buying 2 brand new trucks in 2 days. After that, I never had any problem with the other Tacoma but after 2 years I ended up trading it for a 2023 Silverado. @@unyotv1107 man what could I say… I noticed the $10k after 3 months because being on that situation I didn’t even read the paper work with the second truck. I really trusted on the sales man. With the first truck it was a 60 months loan, with the new one went to 78. When I realized that I had a head ache for almost 2 weeks. So when I tried to trade it in, it always had a $10k negative equity. So after searching and investigating, I went with a local credit union. They gave me a 4.2 % rate and an approval the covered the price of my new Silverado and the negative equity. I also got a good deal at the Chevy dealership because they gave me more for the Tacoma so at the end the negative equity went to $6.5k, I didn’t put any money out of pocket. I just went with the approved amount and got my new truck. I’m definitely lovin it. I do like Toyota but now they’re doing sh!tty cars

I’m on a 2023 Toyota Tacoma 4 x 4. I have not taken it off road but to make a long story short I went in for my 10 K check up and I told him that I was having some transmission slippage or something wasn’t right. Well turns out that the torque converter was bad so now I am without a vehicle 10,000 miles on a 2023 Toyota Tacoma and the torque converter is bad. Supposedly the one they have ordered is one that has been modified should I say updated but I don’t know if I trust that. I had a 2010 Toyota Tacoma I had 348,000 miles on that truck I wish I kept it. It had the original hoses engine parts had never been opened up the transmission was never opened up just regular maintenance it was quite a vehicle but I don’t think Toyota is known for its quality anymore which is sad I will probably end up selling mine.

They're trying to push V8 HP out of a smaller V6 block. More hp over less pistons, rods, and bearings equals shorter life. With a car it's ok. With a heavy vehicle that needs to haul and tow? Not good.
@quyle94833 ай бұрын
@@ArnoldsDesign they'd be able to make it work if they start over engineering the bottom end. I work for another manufacture that ran through these issues and after so many failures, they put a pause to development of the car itself to actually engineering the internals of the smaller turbo engines much stronger with bigger crankshaft and rods.

Toyota does not pay their techs for an engine tear down or a diagnostic on it when the car is under warranty. They only pay for replacing. So the tech is not going to waste his whole day tearing a motor down for free. He has a family to feed. Plus, that tech got maybe got paid 25hrs for that job and he worked on it the whole week and only go home with a 25hr check.
@cawtaba443 ай бұрын
They have to tear it down to find the failure and to diagnose what parts need replacing. The teardown report is sent to Toyota for approval prior to rebuild. That was a flat out lie
@SikIS300T3 ай бұрын
@cawtaba44 not necessarily. When we've done the LS500 motors that they lock up. We take the motor out, tell lexus hey the crank is locked up, and there's a piece of bearing coming out the crank seal. We sent them pictures, and they sent us the new block. The complete tear down Toyota/Lexus does that. We have to ship out the old parts to them, and then there R&D will find the failure.

Yeah, they called me next morning I didn't I didn't drive it hard enough if that makes sense to break in the engine so what happened was you're the tube that's connected to the airbox in the turbo it blew off that's why you had no power that's why all the lights went off so it was like it's not supposed to release for So it was just all it was just the pressure build up and it just blew the hose off it was just a hose and one that's connected to the Turbo the pressure build up it was just like just kept building and building and it just blew at the rubber hose and just blew that hose right off the intake okay so we corrected it we drove it we checked for codes we checked everything

im not advocating for Toyota at all and clearly you should be able to reliably drive a car rough without fear of something breaking especially a brand new car. That being said flooring it will only cause more damage than regular use and if you want your car to last years and years dont drive them hard unless at absolutely necessary times. It amazes me how many people go from 0 to 30 or 40 mph in like 5 seconds just to stop at the red light under a quarter mile away.
