@@unyotv1107 Toyota will definitely fix it. They’re all about making sure that they’re Brand and image stays above all the others. I’d contact Toyota directly also. All said it’s still a really good truck but that year model is the first year model. I would definitely get rid of it and get you a 2024 because they’ve worked out those kinks already. The only recalls they’re having now are nothing major with the engine. There were recalls on the last generation as well.

@armandoyourpersonaljeweler7558 I still wouldn't either. Dealers are swapping engines on 2024s also... trucks that didn't even make it the first oil change. Alot of technicians are leaving Toyota because they aren't paying them enough to do all their work either. The United States division Toyota is in for huge trouble.

They will fix it the problem is the people who bought these trucks. May not have a problem until they run out of warranty, then it breaks and it’s 30,000 dollars worth of work to get it back on the road.

I so wanted a new Tundra to replace my 2007 Titan. My Titan was awesome for 16 years, but I like Toyota too. After trying to buy a Tundra in 2022, 2023 and 2024, I gave up because the financial terms weren't good. Ended up buying a new Titan Pro-4x, and my gawd, am I ever so glad I did. These new Tundras are so bad, the Titan has surpassed them in reliability ratings. People sleep on Nissan....

FR I did the same with the Tacoma. Shopped around for a Taco, as I'm a fan with two other Toyota vehicles, but the prices were ridiculous compared to the Frontier. I ended up buying a used 2019 Frontier 4X4 Midnight with 13K miles for $28K while used Tacos were going for around $43K+ with hella miles. Best decision I've made, the Frontier is basic, reliable, dependable and cheap. It's truly a bare bones truck. Everybody sleeps on Nissan trucks.

@@RiZZOBE4R Nissan has always made a better truck. Always. Going back to Datsun, the gem of the 90s hardbodies, and even the Frontier through all these recent years. Nissan trucks, especially with a manual, are at least just as good, actually better in my opinion, than any Toyo or Taco ever put out. Toyo makes some great stuff, but they've been overrated by fanboys, and Nissan take a hit because of their CVT cars. But yea, Nissan trucks are absolutely solid, and I prefer people sleep on them so they don't jack the prices up like Toyota.

Hmmm that's funny. My ex- fleet 2016 Sierra with the 5.3 V8 which now has 314,000kms doesn't do this. Toyota fanboys always laugh at trucks like mine. It starts, runs smooth/quiet and I regularly drive it long distances (about 6,000 kms per month) from site to site. If you go the Tundra route then stick to a used previous generation with the V8. Yeah the new one will probably drive much nicer but reliability is the name of the game.

Sounds like the usual crankshaft bearing failure issue with these Tundra twin-turbo engines (mostly years 2022-2023 so far). They replace the twin turbos because any parts that would have oil flowing through them could have been damaged by the metal fragments that were found in the oil pan. Toyota is having dealers replace the short block (essentially the engine block, crankshaft, and pistons, plus other components). This probably does not include the heads, intakes, starter, alternator, and other items bolted to the engine.

Someone recently posted an excellent video, explaining that the oil path probably is blocked only in regard to oil that travels to the very first crankshaft bearing and oil to the first connecting rod bearing. This would explain why in some videos only the front crankshaft bearing was destroyed. The other bearings still received oil and survived. Either way, this kind of "error" is very strange for a company that is supposed to be a superior product. I am hopeful to see someone in the future proves this engine went 200k miles with no issues.

Similar reasons I purchased a 2022 Lexus RX - last RX model year with a v6 engine. The 2023 and newer have a turbo 4 cylinder and although they haven’t had dramatic breakdowns like in the new Tundra, people are complaining of engine noise while the naturally aspirated V6 is smooth, responsive, proven, and fun to drive. it's actually both partie's fault the turbos on those things arent just little regular turbos, they're these MAASSSIVE turbos that they put on those things, giving alot more pressure than your average turbo and the engine's fault too, its built too weakly without seemingly any form of reinforcement, so they recieve too much pressure to handle from the turbos and they die, it's the equivalent of supercharging a small displacement non-reinforced engine

That 4wd break was one occasion on TFL truck. I have reason to believe it was a sheer pin built into the front end that was designed to fail before anything else broke. It could have also been a part that was defective. The turbo 2.4 they’re using was already a well proven engine in several different models including a Lexus before they dropped it in the Tacoma. If you have concerns about engine life I suggest you run higher than recommended 87 octane fuel and you install aftermarket water injection to prevent engine failure

@mikehughes8023

You could hear the woman on the audio clearly state what was done to it. This has been happening to a lot of Tundras even with routine maintenance. There was a faulty timing chain put in from the factory that broke and practically obliterated the engine along with the turbos which had to be replaced. That is how metal pieces ended up inside the motor.

This is not just happening with new tundras and tacos. I bought a brand new 2022 Tacoma at the end of 2021. I was happy because it was my first time buying a new car. It was Saturday night when I left the dealership driving my new truck. On Sunday afternoon the transmission did the same noise and bump like your tundra and all the lights came on and it never turned on. They gave another brand new Tacoma the next day, but anyways they screwed me up because now my new Tacoma has an $10k negative equity because they replaced it as a trade in. So I ended up buying 2 brand new trucks in 2 days. After that, I never had any problem with the other Tacoma but after 2 years I ended up trading it for a 2023 Silverado. I have to say that this new Silverado are awesome so keep it in mind as an alternative instead of getting another tundra.

@@unyotv1107 man what could I say… I noticed the $10k after 3 months because being on that situation I didn’t even read the paper work with the second truck. I really trusted on the sales man. With the first truck it was a 60 months loan, with the new one went to 78. When I realized that I had a head ache for almost 2 weeks. So when I tried to trade it in, it always had a $10k negative equity. So after searching and investigating, I went with a local credit union. They gave me a 4.2 % rate and an approval the covered the price of my new Silverado and the negative equity. I also got a good deal at the Chevy dealership because they gave me more for the Tacoma so at the end the negative equity went to $6.5k, I didn’t put any money out of pocket. I just went with the approved amount and got my new truck. I’m definitely lovin it. I do like Toyota but now they’re doing sh!tty cars

I’m on a 2023 Toyota Tacoma 4 x 4. I have not taken it off road but to make a long story short I went in for my 10 K check up and I told him that I was having some transmission slippage or something wasn’t right. Well turns out that the torque converter was bad so now I am without a vehicle 10,000 miles on a 2023 Toyota Tacoma and the torque converter is bad. Supposedly the one they have ordered is one that has been modified should I say updated but I don’t know if I trust that. I had a 2010 Toyota Tacoma I had 348,000 miles on that truck I wish I kept it. It had the original hoses engine parts had never been opened up the transmission was never opened up just regular maintenance it was quite a vehicle but I don’t think Toyota is known for its quality anymore which is sad I will probably end up selling mine.

@cawtaba44 not necessarily. When we've done the LS500 motors that they lock up. We take the motor out, tell lexus hey the crank is locked up, and there's a piece of bearing coming out the crank seal. We sent them pictures, and they sent us the new block. The complete tear down Toyota/Lexus does that. We have to ship out the old parts to them, and then there R&D will find the failure.

im not advocating for Toyota at all and clearly you should be able to reliably drive a car rough without fear of something breaking especially a brand new car. That being said flooring it will only cause more damage than regular use and if you want your car to last years and years dont drive them hard unless at absolutely necessary times. It amazes me how many people go from 0 to 30 or 40 mph in like 5 seconds just to stop at the red light under a quarter mile away.
