I have owned an ID.4 for 1 year. In my opinion: PROS: it is a very quiet and comfortable car. It accelerates from 0-100km/h as fast as a GTI, but totally silent. Acceleration from 0-30km/h is very good (I don't pretend to compare it with a Tesla, I don't need that power). The technology used in the electric motor is at the level of the most advanced electric vehicles. The look of the car is very modern. The build quality is very good (except for some materials). CONS: Some materials used in the interior are of low quality (hard plastic on the doors and pillars, aluminum metal on the dashboard is plastic, piano black plastic is of low quality, etc.). The infotainment is not as bad as said but it is not the best on the market. The travel assistant is not up to par with Tesla's software by a long shot. All in all, it is a good car harmed by some drawbacks that Volkswagen should have avoided after the experience gained on the ID.3, a car that Volkswagen started selling before its development was finished.

New id4s gave the 3.1 sofware that addressed all these issues

Crazy how people (mostly KZbin reviewers) struggle with the capacitive controls. You set the HVAC to auto and rarely (if ever) touch it again and there's an easy to use volume slider on the steering wheel. Rarely use the window controls but they're easy to figure out. We have a 2021 RWD ID.4 Pro S and the lack of physical buttons is just one of the many, many things we really like about this car.

Point well taken. We get to live with these cars usually for a week at most. As an owner you have more time to get used to the car's quirks or even come to see them as benefits, like you do. We do our best to determine the things that are likely to be persistent frustrations, and in this case we never quite came around to liking these controls. Thanks for your feedback! It's great to know you're enjoying your purchase. -Ben

@@EVPulse , Didn’t mean to come off harsh. I apologize. Only a week or so with the car makes sense with why the controls would be a pain. Thank you…

did you compare long range ford and tesla models to the standard range VW? The range numbers I found online for standard range ford and teslas are comparable to the ID.4, so I’m not sure what you were looking at.

I have a 22 AWD ProS and have put about 1000 miles on it. Controls could be better but aren’t really that frustrating. Live in a hilly area and we are seeing about 3.6 miles per kWh.

Why would you compare the ID.4 with a Model Y, considering that the latter is far more expensive?

Maybe people aren’t cross shopping because of price but it is the best seller in the segment.

How much does it cost to replace the battery when it stops working? Thanks.
@EVPulse2 жыл бұрын
The warranty on the battery is 8 years. If you need a replacement beyond that, you'll have several options just like you have options with a blown motor in a car. Pricing will vary depending on which way you go.
@hotelgulf2 жыл бұрын
@@EVPulse - I read, it’s only what I’ve read, is that beyond the warranty of eight years, a battery price is over $35,000 for a mid-size car. Is that correct?
@EVPulse2 жыл бұрын
@@hotelgulf Well we aren't a reseller of batteries, but the car hasn't been out for 8 years so its hard to say what its replacement cost would be. Only the earliest EVs are beyond that and nobody is paying that much for a new battery. Maybe that's what's being quoted now, but any battery work on nearly every new EV would be covered under warranty at this point.

@@hotelgulf There's no way the battery cost that much. A standard 2023 goes for 37.500

I don't want to praise Volkswagen too much, but you can replace individual defective battery packs with the IDs, which is hardly possible with a well-known US American manufacturer, at least not without disassembling the entire car.

VW ID.4= $41,000 - 45,000. Hyundai IONIQ 5 = $44,000 - 51,000. 2023 Chevy Bolt, 2LT = $33,000 delivered, less for the 1LT. I will keep my money in the bank!
