Just put this exhaust on my 23 WRX and added a Kooks 3" oval resonator up front. The sound is awesome, no drone, no farts.

Decibel readings would be incredibley helpful for us Californians with restrictions, especially at the "proposed distance" the decibel meter should be placed. Thanks for this video!

Same here in New York no one has test vids up but in New York you can only have like 90-95 db. I have searched the internet and only found a handful of db tests.

We do have some NY customers who have provided data, we hope though that in the future as downpipe restrictions take hold we'll be able to offer more concrete advice. Right now it is muddy because end users have items installed that we may not be aware so we can only take that data with a grain of salt. We are 100% open to providing results if we can ensure the data set is proper!

I read online that an axle back exhaust doesn't require tuning however, I wanted to know if a catback exhaust requires tune or not?

A Catback will not require tuning as no change is made pre Catalyst!

There are many variables involved in this, however a louder exhaust does definitely bring out some of those notes during shifting.

@@stijanjija2225 Sorry about that, I must have misread your original comment. As far as a comparison goes, are you looking for a quality comparison, sound comparison, tip size… there are a few variables that go into deciding which exhaust is best for you. I will do my best to answer some of those questions below. The Borla system helps to tame the “shout” upon cold starts. This system is constructed out of a T-304 stainless steel and double tipped mufflers. This system is not resonated. This will often times lead to a slightly louder system versus the resonated options but that being said does have dual mufflers. This system will be on the quieter side of exhaust systems. The AWE Touring System offers a resonated option with their 180 “drone free” technology. We have had great experiences with the fitment on the multiple systems we have had on our vehicles. AWE prides themselves on their quality and it definitely shows with their systems. The touring systems tend to run on the quieter side as they offer a resonator and dual exit mufflers. This system is constructed with T304L stainless steel. From there, the featured exhaust in this video from MBRP is a single exit exhaust option with no resonator and a single pass though muffler. This system will inherently be louder than the other options due to a single muffler. This system is also T304 Stainless Steel. All of these “Loudness” descriptions can be skewed by other modifications such as additional exhaust components up stream. That being said if your vehicle is factory other than this Catback you plan to install, we feel the AWE will be your quietest option and the MBRP will be the loudest option of the exhaust systems you have requested. Sounds a LOT deeper and more rumbly in real life. I was expecting it to sound like the video, but mine came out almost like an old Subie rumble, just with less burble.

Capturing sound is very difficult. We try to capture it as best as possible, however the human ear isn't on the bumper of the car like our microphone is. Glad you're enjoying your exhaust though! -S

there is a bit of drone with this exhaust, as it does tend to be on the louder side with the smaller muffler and no resonator.

Excellent eye! While we never work on cars in that foot attire (as that was just for the intro and outro clips) we can understand how this looks on video. This is great advise for anyone who is working on their vehicle, no matter what the job.
