Hey man!!! Make sure you change that front sprocket if you haven’t already. These bikes are known to have shitty front sprockets that wear out the splines on the shaft. Fritzko makes a good aftermarket one. Please look into this!!!

Man it is neet to see what that machine is Sniffing coming out of that pipe ! 165 main and 55 pilot really made a big difference in the curve... I did the Dave's mod but didn't change the pilot as it was running great..... it looks like that gave you alot more bottom end, so I may do that. my plug color is perfect just where I want it (dark tan) but it does seem to lack some on the bottom end... so I'll try changing the pilot jet .... I just drilled the main jet to the next bigger size.... and the idea behind drilling the holes in the slide to 5/32" is to increase throttle response.... that Does definitely work ! response does seem to be quite a bit faster! I saw a guy buy a wide band O2 sensor and mount it on his exhaust pipe so he could see what the carbs are actually doing....after realizing that the higher the number the leaner it was he got it running 9 times better than it was running... it told him right where to look ! so maybe the wide band O2 sensor is the poor man's Dyno tuning eh ? I de smogged my bike and put on the block off plates... I have a supertrapp muffler (wouldn't even run the stock boat anchor they call a muffler !) ....on top of all that I lowered the seat height a full 4" so my 30" inseam can flat foot it ! but mine does not wheelie like yours does ! .... it goes, but not like that !!!! that is impressive !

Thanks for the video. As much as we all do these modifications to our XR's its surprisingly difficult to find dyno results. Would also be interested in seeing if an aftermarket filter helps. The stock looks restrictive, for what that's worth.

Im just starting my xr650l build, I ride a lot of trails and campgrounds. How much am I giving up sticking with the full stock exhaust? Couple hp up top or is it choked out through the whole rev range? Any input appreciated thanks.

Why would ya screw with something that works vs screw with it and make it unreliable and lets you set out in the woods some where.. How much did you wanna pay again ??? Mid of the road performance is reliable, higher performance cost and reliability goes down. There is something to say about consistency. I know you don't want to pay out top buck for the price of a factory works bike !!! This as you can see by little margined gained vs rider says a ton.. guess you have to go wfo every where you go must for some. reason mean something as you lay in a hospital bed blaming the bike...

This guy obviously has no clue about what manufacturers have to do to meet EPA regulations for street legal motorcycles. Bikes run so lean from the factory to meet emissions which not only chokes power but also often makes them run hotter than necessary which actually is bad for reliability.

According to dirt bike dyno the CDI will let it run to 9k. Please don't, there is already massive stress on the rod bearing from the massive slug moving up and down. They roll off about 6500/7000.

@uffeibsen8872 These are not high-performance water cooled motors that spin higher p.m. these motors are tractors that allow you to lazily ride around and bog out of a corner in fourth gear and have the motor pull just as hard as if you’ve been revving it out in second gear.

KAPLAN "s getting 45 hp+ out of this motor.(big bore).tried the Honda headers instead of these stock ones..they lose 5 hp on the dyno....oups..!!
