Fantastic review! Compared to some of your competitors who mostly test their skis on green runs (maybe the occasional Blue), you showed what it is like in the real world of the steep and deep. Nice!

Wow.. Great Footage and Great Day.. It sounds like these are very similar to my Enforcer 104 Free.. Probably even closer to the Enforcer 110 Free..

Hi again. Re mount point, if I’m 183 and got the 184 length would there be enough ski in front at the rec point or am I best to drop it back 2.5 or 3mm? I’m no freeride specialist. Unlikely to be get much air …intentionally..more an all mountain user. Always think rec point is best use of a ski though!! Cheers Nick.

Hey Nick, I wouldn't deviate from the mount point! There are three mount points denoted on the skis: progressive (+2), rec, and directional (-2). I think I would go with rec or directional. I truly think you could go either way. At rec the ski will be very playful and easy to slash, while further back will give you more ski in front of you to drive in firmer or challenging snow. Matt is a pretty directional skier and skied this happily at recommended, but he's a bit shorter than you. It depends on what you're looking for! But I think both will work well. I just maybe wouldn't recommend going more forward! :) -Alex

Great review guys. How do they compare to the new Rustler 11? Thanks nick.

Thanks Nick! The Sender feels more familiar to the old Ruster 11, but the new 11 features less rocker and is overall a notch less playful. The Rustler feels a little more precise with the tweaked metal shape and less rocker. It's less happy to slash and pivot sideways than the Sender, but will feel more supportive while carving. It's not that you can't get the Rustler sideways, it just takes a little more input. I think the Rustler feels more demanding than the Sender and suits the directional skier who likes to tackle the fall line, whle the Sender suits the more freestyle oriented skier. -Alex

If you had to decide between the Atris and Sender Free 110 for a daily driver in CO, which would you choose? Totally get that they aren’t apple to apples, but for all mountain use (15% groomers, 25% bumps and the rest off piste) which would be your go to? Thanks!

Both great skis! The Sender Free is a bit heavier with a metal plate underfoot and also wider, so it's a little more powerful and more stable while being a bit less nimble. I think it's the more versatile pick, so that and the extra stability are why I would go with it. But both are great options. Atris is the pick if you want a more playful and lighter-feeling ski. -Matt

Thanks, Matt! For a 110 width ski do you think it reasonable to use as a daily driver/only ski in the quiver for the year? The sender free has some great tech and shaping that I like but not sure if I’m sacrificing the mountain by going with it over something like the Atris?

At 110, you're only a milimeter wider on either side of the ski than the 108 Atris, so they really won't feel that different in terms of quickness underfoot and versatility for all-mountain skiing. I do think the Atris feels lighter to swing around and can feel "quicker" in that sense, but you're rolling really similar amounts of ski over on edge. I do think the metal in the Sender helps give it some bite on firm snow which makes it really versatile. 110 is definitely soft snow oriented, but you'll find lots of folks here at the shop running a 105-112 underfoot ski out here most days of the year once we hit mid-winter. I think at this point, it's going to be helpful to try some on snow so you can feel confident in your choice! We'll be hosting a demo day at Loveland on 12/7. We won't have the old Atris for demo, but definitely this Sender and the new 105 Atris. Hope that helps Jesse! -Alex @@JesseSchulman-j4f

How would you compare these with QST Blanks?
@powder7skis
@powder7skis Жыл бұрын
Howdy! Apologies for the late reply! The Sender features a more twin-tip shape with similar amounts of rocker in the tip and tail. Not quite a true twin, but resembles a freestyle shape more than the Blank. The Blank is deceptively directional. Definitely has substantial rocker in the tip and tail, but the tail is less splayed and less tapered. You also have a more traditional, recommended mount point on the Blanks (-8 vs. the Sender's -3.5). Overall, both are maneuverable skis and are similarly damp and stable through variable snow, but the Blank likes to have the shovels pressured a little more than the Sender. The Sender is happy being skied with a really centered and playful style. I hope that helps! -Alex

Thoughts on mounting pont?

We've all been skiing it on the recommended line (the one in the middle) which is about ~3.5 back from true center. Everyone's been loving it there. Rossi also marks a progressive line at -1.5 from center and a directional line a -5.5. I don't do as well once I'm more forward than 3 back, but a freestyle rider would like it there. Given that this ski is built for bigger and deeper terrain than a more firm snow ski, I think going any more forward would limit how much you can really drive the ski through powder. But if you ski with a really centered style, this ski certainly delivers that and would excel at that style with it being more forward. I think the directional mount point would work really well if you like to drive your skis through the shovels more, but still like the sound of the manuverability and playful shape. I tend to get along with skis around -5 or 6, so I think I would like it at that mount point too and I'll probably try it there this year. It all depends what you're looking for out of the ski! If you ask any of the ski techs here, they'll tell you to not mess around with the rec point, unless you *know* where you like to ride. Hope that helps! -Alex

Awesome review! I was wondering if u could help me decide wether I buy these since a friend is selling them with little use for 600 USD (without bindings). The thing is I've never skied with wider powder skis, the ones I currently have are the Elan 76C which I understand aren't at all like these skis. If u could help me understand if its a good decision to make the leap right on to the sender frees that would be great. Thank u! Btw I live in Chile idk if that's relevant.

Hey Hugo! Thanks for watching! That does sound like a good deal, but as you've already noted, they would be a big difference to what you're riding now. What kind of terrain do you normally like to ski? Would these be powder-specific skis or something you'd bring out more often? It's a pretty large jump up in width and will feel pretty sluggish to roll over on edge and more difficult to maneuver compared to your current skis. Your current skis just have carbon in them, no metal, so these skis may feel stiffer underfoot and a little more difficult to engage. If you wanted something a little more versatile, you could look at the Rossi Sender 104 Ti, which will be more nimble underfoot and navigate the less-than-soft-snow more easily. It also has a more traditional, directional shape, more similar to your current skis. From what I know about Chile, it sounds like there can be really deep awesome snow, but the sometimes warm weather can cause melt/freeze cycles, leading to some firm snow skiing. That's why I would maybe just look at something a bit more narrow, just to give you more versatility. You would still get plenty of float out of a 100mm-105mm ski, just with added versatility. That said, if you're super psyched on these, just expect a bit of a learning curve to get used to them! I hope that helps, let us know if you have more questions!! -Alex

How does it stack up to the nordica unleashed 114? Feedback would be great! Thanks!
@powder7skis
@powder7skis Жыл бұрын
Great question! One of the staffers here who's spent time on both says the biggest difference is the Sender feels more like a freestyle-friendly and playful ski that supports that with a lot of stability, whereas the Unleashed feels more like a directional ski that rewards skiers with a more forward stance, that feels quite playful for what it is. They're similar skis (low swing weight for how stable they are, easy to pivot while still feeling stable on edge) with slightly different focuses. If you find yourself getting the ski sideways and slashing a lot, I think the Sender would be a good fit. If you ski with a more directional style and like to tackle the fall line (while still getting a little playful), the Unleashed would be a great choice. That said, Matt up there is one of the more directional skiers I know, and he still loves the Sender, so I don't think you can go wrong with either! -Alex

How would you compare these to the Nordica enforcer 110 free?
@powder7skis
@powder7skis Жыл бұрын
Great comparison. They're similar skis, both coming out on the burlier and more aggressive side while still being playful/smeary for people who can drive them. The biggest thing for either is size choice. If you're between two sizes, the longer one will feel plankier and considerably more demanding, while the shorter will be much more confidence inspiring. Yes that's true of pretty much all skis, but it's especially true for these two. The Enforcer 110 has more metal than the Sender and may feel slightly more demanding to lots of people. It also skis best if you're aggressively driving it with a forward stance. The Sender, I think, feels best with a more centered, balanced stance. -Matt

This vs m free 108??
@powder7skis
@powder7skis Жыл бұрын
Both great skis! Similar for sure! I think the M Free leans a touch on the more playful side--a bit more rocker in the tip and tail. I also find the swing weight to be a little lower on the M Free. Lighter on the feet and in the air, but maybe less stability in the tip for charging at speed through crud.
