This was great! I used V6 pads during my senior year of high school in 2014. Haven’t played since, but really cool to see how different goalie preferences are these days. Always preferred a softer pad, double break, nice curve at the top, very much a Jonathan Quick style of play. Just getting back into playing so this was super informative!

It's fun to see the changes over the years isn't it. You would not BELIEV how light these new pads are compared to your 2014 pads.

I've been a big fan of Vaughn pads throughout my playing days. The old V2 series is still by far my favorite pad because I prefer something softer. Loose at the bottom but tighter at the top to help close my 5 hole. Definitely want to try a set of these out some time soon!

I had an old pair of used Velocity pads when I started out - and they were good, but these ones are so much lighter and it feels like they cradle my legs better.

I’ve worn Vaughn since my first pair of VPG 1000’s. I have worn and loved their Legacy pads and Velocity line, BUT, the best Vaughn Pad I have ever worn is their SLR2’s. I got a used pair as a a loaner and absolutely fell in love with them. I’m only 5’7, so I actually wear 31” + 2”, but the fit and the protection is perfect. It’s the lightest pad I have ever worn and wearing them, I lead my hockey league team, the Orcas, to back to back League Championships last Fall and this Spring. I’m so obsessed that I found two pair of the exact same make, model and colour and had them shipped overseas from Europe, as you cannot find this pad anymore, given the SLR 3’s are out. Vaughn simply is the best, I’ve also worn their V1 Kirpusoff Glove and Blocker (waffle style) in custom colors and they have lead me to the top!

I've been wearing Vaughn pads since 1986! VPG 1000. Recently, I bought a pair of V9's. OMG! Each pad is 10 ounces lighter than the V4 NHL pro returns I've been using. The only difficulty is getting used to the stiff square shape. The weight savings, along with the Quickslide is something. My custom V 10 pro carbon catch is almost finished.

I demo'd them, coming from a V9 these are night and day different. Still a great pad, just different. - Thigh is much straighter compared to previous Velocity line - Rebounds fly, so you won't get too many whistles with these - Strapping system was super snug, tighter than than previous Velocity line. - This new strapping, (True FRS) the top strap goes over the top of the calf muscle, professor strap use to above the calf, this new strap goes over. - Actually really liked the new toe bungee, Vaughn did a job on that. - Flat boot was a welcome change Overall great, fantastic pad. Although stock/retail V10 pad now is very close to an SLR pad. Pucks fly and not as much flex as previous generation. But still a great, now just a different feel.

I have and like my V9s (double break!) which replaced my V5s. At my height of 5'5", very few companies make a senior pad in my size. At my age, I need a more flexible pad as the stiff pads will not do anything for me. I need my full width and something that moves with me a bit better. Over the years, I have been in and out of Vaughn pads. My first ones were 800s (I think), Legacy 2, 3500 Vision, 4500 Turco spec (they were Vaughn's answer to Helite 5s), V5 now V9. Obviously there were some other non-Vaughn in there as well.

My first set of real pads was a pair of V1s back in 2003 playing Midget travel. They were fantastic and lasted forever. I tried to relive those days and bought a full V9 set, and I never really got along with any piece in the set. Part of it was that the pads were too big, but none of it felt quite right. All very well made, but the strapping of the pads and glove could've been better, and the blocker interferes with the stick and the palm position felt odd. The guy I sold the set to loves it, though. 🤷♂️
