2023 Admissions Open House in PAINTING/PRINTMAKING

The Yale School of Art hosted its 2023 MFA Admissions Open House events online as four separate program-specific sessions-one for each of the School's areas of graduate study: Graphic Design, Sculpture, Photography, and Painting/Printmaking.
In this video, Painting/Printmaking faculty and students introduce the MFA program in Painting/Printmaking at the Yale School of Art. Director of Graduate Studies in Painting/Printmaking, Meleko Mokgosi, leads a presentation alongside Assistant Director Maria De Los Angeles and faculty members Matthew Keegan and Alexander Valentine. Current MFA students in Painting/Printmaking, Laura Camila Medina, Mike Picos, Hafsa Nouman, and Haejin Park, also joined to share their work and experiences in the program. In this live event hosted on Zoom, this presentation was followed by a short Q&A session that was not recorded.

I firmly believe that if I hadn't had faith in both my work and myself, a critic would have derailed me from my path. As an adjunct professor, I now hope that those who critique and curate art are gentle with the artists they come in contact with. Their role should be to support the artists' vision in developing their work, rather than imposing their own vision onto the work.
