Field day was awesome this year. I was 1Alpha (or Bravo?) operating portable battery power from a state park outside of Chicago Illinois this year. You guys have a great spot to set up and camp and have a blast! I got rained on Saturday night but field day in the rain is better than no field day at all. Cheers and 73 de W3LAM!

Oh man, you're in for a treat. My advice, if you can, find a local club that is really active in field day. Not one that just sits around inside and gets on the radio, nay, find one that goes all out and actually does field day they way it should be done. Here's a video of my first field day with the N8SL club in South Lyon, MI. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIPXlplqjKqUrqM I literally just crashed their field day. They had no idea who I was, but they were so welcoming to everyone. They even let me get on the air! I ended up joining that club and made a lot of great friends.

Since obtaining my ticket in 2003 (I am now a general), I have only missed two Field Days. Since 2003 I have lived in NYC, Cape Cod, MA and now central Virginia. In all that time, I tend to judge FD by the food! In Cape Cod, one of the members of the club has a brother that owns a restaurant. He catered for the event. Now THAT was some good eating! 😂 It looks like you had the food dept WELL covered! 👍 Also, it’s nice to see a bunch of hams together that are under fifty years old!

I'm not gonna lie, as a primarily portable operator, I like where your reasoning is at. For me Field day isn't so much about getting on the air, but about hanging out with other hams whom you may not otherwise get to see.

I really like the DXCOMMANDER antennas. I have a travel trailer and we are at Ray Roberts a lot. Is it possible or make sense to attach the DXCOMMANDER to the camper? I have a hitch on the back or even the ladder. Is that a problem with the radials? I like the Signature 12.4 but thinking that might be too much. Thoughts/suggestions? KX8Z

The worst field day report I have ever watched. It was a big advert for all of the suppliers, you may have got freebees from. The worst mode to use on field day (ft8 which should be banned from field day. Reason, there is no skill in ft8). Would not call you guys for emergency coms.
