Far cry riding there than it was in Germany with the GSX-S GT. They are gorgeous bikes with impeccable manners and so easy to ride. I love my RS Sport and now that I have the luggage pack touring is not a problem.

I’ve owned the BMW R1200R LC for six years as I literally can’t find anything better equipped and capable of doing everything so well so after trying the Mandello I’ve decided to upgrade to the 1250. We’re moving to the south of Spain in two years time, leaving all this weather and woke madness behind so this video was great to watch, thank you.

Great video thanks Kate. 😃👍 Any thoughts on an R1250R verses an R1250GS for long distance road use only? I used to have a 2007 GS and a Rockster just before that, but the bikes have moved on from then. If I had the R, I would fit a screen, but I wonder about the knee angle and the weight difference and how noticeable that is etc. I'm 5ft 7 approx, so if I got a GS it would be a low chassis one. Any tips would be most welcome and I've enjoyed many of your videos thank you. 🤗

As a 2017, BMW R1200r sport owner, I've got to say, it's a fantastic, useable road bike. I can commute, tour and also 'play' in the twisties on mine, living in Wales helps 🙂 Personally, I think it's a very understated and under rated bike, more useable (on the road) than the S1000r (IMO). Great handling, comfy, quick enough, with loads of grunt......🙂 I'm sure the 1250, with more power and torque, is going to be an even better bike. Great review Kate, looking forward to the rest. I'm looking to sell my 19 1200GSA to buy a 1200R 2017. Is it best to tour with a screen or face the full brunt of the wind?

I ride one of these, a 2021 version. I have ridden several bikes over the years, but the torque on this bike is incredible. However one cannot rev the engine like a straight 4, but then one does not need to. It is a different riding taste. It's 0-60 times are similar to top flight litre sports bikes (look it up on Google). I ride mine in dynamic all the time, even in the rain. The only difference I have noticed is in dynamic one does not have to turn the wrist so much, which is kind on the wrist.

It's a phone cradle (which hadn't been used at that point) and I think it's like a liability sticker so if you're playing with your phone on the move and have an accident, it told you not to so that's on you lol... probably... thats my guess!

I'm 5ft 4 with a 29 inch inseam and I have the balls of my feet down. A full flat foot if my bum is over to one side a tiny amount

Nice looking bike really like the idea of the throttle cut out when front breaking but I have grabbed a handful of brake while rev matching down shifting and a time or two applied a bit of throttle unintentionally while braking, so overall what’s your thoughts on it.

780mm would be my preference for seat height. 820 is a tad too high and 760 too low for my 30 inch inside leg. After seeing the Missenden Flyer's failed rear dynamic suspension unit, and the massive cost of a new one {he was lucky enough to find a good used unit, likely from a write off}, I'd stick with normal suspension, provided it isn't oversprung for a person's given weight. Even in that event, Maxton are really good and economical for a respringing job, which they did for my bike. Are you a full time KZbinr now then Kate, seeing as you remarked that you don't sell new bikes any longer ?

I can't get past 16 grand to have the thing specced for touring and comfort. Not when you can buy the early 1200R which is still a fantastic bit of kit, fully loaded for a third of the price. OK it doesn't have the ipad dash and all of the buttons to press that today's riders are so obsessed with, but it's still going to do the job and the day I need a button to press when the roads are wet because I'm not capable of adjusting throttle openings to suit the conditions, is the day I pack it in. Bikes now are definitely toys for the wealthy Aston in the garage, 3000 mile per year types. Riff raff need not apply

Totally agree. I was in the BMW shop the other day and overheard a guy enquiring if he could get a quick shifter for his R18 😢 There's a whole generation of older riders who seem to lack basic riding skills expecting the bike to do everything for them My first ever touring trip was in 1993, 3000 miles in two weeks on the continent, wife on the back and givi's full to busting on a Yamaha 600 Diversion, and to this day that was our best ever trip Today of course, if you haven't got cruise control, riding modes and self adjusting suspension you should just give up on the idea. How did we manage without all that guff 🤔
