2023 Chevrolet ZR2 at Iron Gap in Alabama

We took a quick trip to North Alabama and met up with some friends for a little offroad adventure!
Iron Gap is located in between Huntsville, Al and Chattanooga, Tn. Half of the trail is located in Alabama and the other half is in Tennessee. There are creek crossings, rock climbs and plenty of mud. In this video we ride half of the trail which is rated 4-5 in some areas. The white truck in front of me is a 2024 Colorado ZR2 that is about a week old, My 2023 Colorado ZR2 and a 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD. All three trucks did very well on this trail and we hope to go back again soon.

I've been to Iron Gap several times in my Jeep. Out and back on the AL side isn't very difficult, but exiting on the TN side is definitely more difficult...although not THAT bad. Jeeps on 35s can do it.

That’s what I heard! My buddy’s truck was brand new and completely stock so we kept it tame. Maybe next trip we can do the whole trail!

I got my 2024 ZR2 a couple weekends ago, and am new to having a truck with this kind of capability, so, I'm going to take it easy until I build my skillset up. I think doing years of "softroading" in my 2010 RAV4 has taught me to be REALLY careful about my lines (because of it's lack of any skidplate and limited clearance), so, I think that will help me learn. I don't think I'll ever do anything even this technical, but it's nice to know it COULD. Nice vid, Keep On Truckin'!

That is the color of my new 2024 zr2. Ooks great when ckeaned uo and in durect sunlight as the metal flakes in the paint shine brightly. I get lots of complements how good the truck looks. Thinking about putting black or bronze wheels and bigger 305/75r17 or 275/85r17 size tires on the truck. That way it would have better ground clearance. I kind of want the narrower but taller size tires on it to get better fuel economy. I took the truck our last weekend riding on logging roads in greene county,tn and in Madison county,nc. The truck is a beast. I drove it down a forestry road that crossed a stream in 3 places and it easily went through the stream crossings.

What size tires was on the black ZR2? They did not look like the stock Territory MT 33s from factory. I might have to bring my 2018 ZR2 and do this trail see how it compares to the new ones. Located near Talladega I may have to make this trip up, looks like a fun trail

The white ZR2 is completely stock and literally brand new with 285/70 17’s. My truck has a 2” level and 315/70 17’s. Both trucks did really well on this trail. And you are close enough to go do it but I would recommend not going alone. There is no cell service and several places where you would be best to have a spotter

I have a 2020 Toyota Tacoma trd off road 2wheel drive and I am Seriously considering a 2024 Colorado ZR2. I was wondering and wanted to ask is the Black ZR2 in this video a ZR2 or a ZR2 Bison?

Neither are bisons. My truck has a level and same 315’s as the bison with a -12 offset wheel. This combo is perfect for the wheeling that we do. The white ZR2 is completely stock. The TRD that was with us did surprisingly well but he had a lift and 285’s

Man, are the tires true to size? And do they scrub any off-road?

@@somechannel7083 34.7” so yes as close to a 35 as any 35” tire actually is. With the proper alignment there are 0 issues with rubbing. New video going up at 8am CT tomorrow with my 1 year review and more details about the build to this stage!

With the chevy, have you had any issues with the truck?

Nothing that the dealer hasn’t been able to solve quickly. All new gen trucks and cars with this much tech is going to have some hiccups with the software but again nothing major.

The Colorado trail boss is quite capable truck. I owned one and drive it for 12,000 miles. Drive it all over our northeast tn,western nc and South western Virginia logging roads. The G80 locker worked good. Just decided 2 weeks ago to trade it in in a 2024 zr2 in this same harvest bronze metallic color as I wanted a truck that had both the front and rear locking differentials on it so I can drive on rougher forestry roads.
