2023 Cinematic Recap: vs. North Alabama

No. 4 Florida State defeated North Alabama 58-13 to complete the 25th unbeaten home season in program history. The win improved FSU to 11-0 overall, the sixth time in program history FSU has started a season with at least 11 wins. The Seminoles scored the final 58 points of the game, with the offense scoring on seven of its final 10 drives, the defense forcing six consecutive three-and-outs, and special teams adding a touchdown on a blocked field goal return. Tate Rodemaker led the offense with a career-high 217 passing yards and tied his single-game career best with two passing touchdowns. Jarrian Jones posted an historic stat line, recording three tackles, all TFLs, 1.0 sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one interception. He is the first player in program history and the only player in the nation in 2023 to register a TFL, sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery and interception in the same game.

Honestly, he looked pretty raw in there. But they will have a game plan for him, I hope. I like that Tate does not seem to get rattled. Likewise, I like that the coach and team does not get rattled. Go noles.

​@user-fp9qg3qm5b i disagree. I thought his passes were accurate and grwat ball placement. There was a miscue between Tate and WR on some play calls (wrong route, etc..) ) but honestly, he had a couple of passes that were just flat out dropped. Tate is a Jr. And one of Norvells first recruits. Carried us thru Louisville last season and will start next yr w/ significant experience in the same system.

It’s so heartbreaking that he is hurt, but it’s a blessing in disguise for this team because now they have that beacon of motivation to go out there and give it there all every play, just like jordan would do. I turned the game on immediately b4 the play he got hurt. I was trying to understand the score and then he immediately got hurt. It was surreal, like a nightmare. I almost turned the TV off but then I stuck it out. The defense was abusing North Bama later in that game. Tate was also kind of shaky imho.

Tate is a winner, played on a state champ team in high school, took them to the quarter final playoffs 2 more times and his dad was the head coach. I promise he has a winning mentality and now that the offense is his he can and will ball out. In his only previous start we did not have the run game we have now. Teams were able to gameplan against us passing cause the run was easy to contain. Tremendous arm talent and Norvell is gonna start calling some plays he’s been hanging on to.

I’m still in shock of what went down that night. So many things were running through my head, but the one statement that never crossed my mind was that our season was over. Even though that was the initial reaction for everyone across america, us FSU fans know that Tate Rodemaker was made for this moment and something is telling me that this is about to be the most heartwarming season the Seminoles have ever played.
