Just as others have mentioned, it does need a dab of oil before you use it kzbin.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e - put a few drops in through the convenient screw cap and you are good to go! I have fished several weeks with a couple of these, and I will be getting more in the future. I put these against my Abu Garcia Pro Max reel, and they actually perform a bit better than the Abu with some of my lighter cranks, and definitely just as good with the rest of my lures. My Abu is a bit more low profile and fits my hand better, but these are definitely not bad at all. You can almost get 3 of these for the price of my Pro Max. My only complaint is the thumb bar sits pretty high compared to my traditional profile Abu. Bring that thumb bar down a little and I’m sold on these all day long.

I was at the Japanese tackle store the other day ready to buy it and noticed the paint scheme looks a lot lighter in person then the website photo. To me the HLC looks better with the blue accents. They both appear to share the same DNA. I would bet I could just buy a spare "HLC" spool and it would fit. Looking forward to seeing how the Steez A II TW handles those light lures and how low can you go?

I would order Japanese lines, swim baits, reel stands, crank baits, top waters…pretty much anything you use but I would get the JDM version.

designed for mid to heavy lures. i almost snagged one of these and was going to put in the SLP sv boost spool, but ended up ordering a custom SLP steez. i do like that this is salt water rated. let us know how it handles the lighter lures since this is Daiwa's workhorse steez for techniques like frogging...pitching and flipping...etc...

Absolutely. I would take a hard look at the Daiwa Zillion SV TW JDM model. That’s a more versatile reel.

This reel is just as versatile as the zillion, but won’t cast as light as the zillion. You can cast down to 7g (1/4 oz) comfortably, but maybe a bit lighter with the right rod. Anything lower you might as well look into a separate reel in the BFS territory that goes up to the lower range of this one. Then you will be able to cover everything.

The new steez a 2 can definitely handle up to 2 ounces no problem. The new steez has double bearing pinion and free floating spool. Super strong

@@qayyumputrashah8073 the zillion can easily cast very light lures and heavier lures like a fat boy. It's very smooth, casts great, good feel in hand, and the drag is very consistent. I prefer it over my metaniums and it's only 240-250 dollars

I'd disagree with you on it being versatile. This isn't built for lighter lures.... that's what the SV spool is for. Prob better off sticking with 5/16 and up on this one
