It was our 7th year of Uplift a Child support to children of DRC Congo. When we first visited in 2016, this village (Bunyakiri) did not have any electricity at all. Its population about 500,000 lives from Sunrise to Sunset. But this year, when we visited, we saw electricity has come just recently and few houses there got electricity just for 4 hours a day (6pm to 10pm only).
We met all of our children and enjoyed our time with them at the program. Out of the 200 children we have there, we personally visited and stepped into 75 homes to get connected, encourage, inspire and share the hope of education with them. The parents are happy, children are happy and our local volunteers most happy for being a part of this noble cause.
Uplift a Child team from USA and India visited this place in August for 3 nights. Returned back with beautiful memories. We wanted to do more but finances are a big hurdle. God willing, if we can get more sponsors, we would like to do more. Out of the 200 children, only 10 children have sponsors and the rest of the children are supported with our backup funds and from few loans. We are doing with a hope that God will connect good citizens to the cause and we are already doing what is needed. If we wait, the children will not be at school. We took the risk and all the children are at school today. Please email us if you would like to be a part of this. It costs only USD 255 to support a child for the full year education.
Thank you
