New to enclosed trailers and as a solo operator efficiency is key for me. I thought the same thing about backing in mowers and seeing everyone's videos I kept asking myself why they didn't back their mowers on too haha. Definitely like the gas cans on the floor with the wood holding them in. Taking that idea from you. Also like the trimmers being vertical vs horizontal. Have you noticed any issues from the engines not being supported by the engine supports being that they're vertical vs horizontal?

I love that you’re able to run old equipment (old leaf blower) while still optimizing near perfect organization that works for you! Great setup. What redmax trimmer is that? I have a redmax Gz23n that’s an older one but runs great. Yours looks bigger.
@keithlindsay Жыл бұрын
I wasn't sure which one you was asking about. The small grass trimmer(weed eater) is a TR2350S, the medium size is BCZ260TS, and the mid length hedge trimmer is SRT224. I had a Red Max long reach hedge trimmer I sold last year that was all metal. I think it was like a 95 model and it still ran good. I have some very old equipment. I have a 93 Walker mower that still runs good. I try to take care of my stuff. Thanks for watching

Your trailer set up is very neat! Are the Walker mowers comfortable to operate with the position of the handles? Also, is that a phone pouch on your side? I like it.
@keithlindsay Жыл бұрын
No problem for me, I have longer arms than a lot of guys. Yes, it is a leather custom made phone case that I have had for years. It's very durable. Thanks

@@keithlindsay I have an open trailer that I try to keep as neat as possible. So far, so good. But, as soon as the height of the season is here that's out of the window. Partially!😉 I do my best to keep it clean though. I believe a nice presentation is appealing to clients and potential ones too. So, I recently re-painted it and added new racks and tires as well. The down side is that I have to unload it EVERY evening which is prompting me to either buy that trailer or pay for storage.
@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power Жыл бұрын
Good video ( if only it was shot in _landscape_ 😂 even when I watch videos on my phone, I prefer watching in landscape view ), nice setup. What were you saying about diesel vs gas? Echo made a sweep accessory for their hedge trimmer years ago; it's just wasn't standard 🤷♂️ I don't know if they still offer it. Oh, and there definitely is a difference between the 9010 and 8010.
@keithlindsay Жыл бұрын
I have a seperate video on gas vs diesel. Basically that most guys pulling just mowers don't need a diesel, unless you are towing more than 10,000 lbs. I think some guys just have a diesel because of their ego. There is NO way you can save money with a diesel truck, even if it gets twice the fuel mileage vs a gas truck which usually they don't. When you consider the extra cost upfront, then the extra finance cost, the fuel being $1.50 more a gallon, the extra cost of maintenance, the extra cost of the DEF fluid, and when something breaks the REAL EXTRA cost. My 6.4 gas Dodge pulls a 10,000 lb. trailer fine and I live in the mountains. I'm not a big Dodge fan, this is my 1st one, the main reason I bought it, was it has 120 more horse power than a 6.0 GM. I also have a video on my open trailer..Thanks
@nathannewell9456 Жыл бұрын
I went from gassers to diesels for my business for the pure reason they don’t hold up at all. Was getting 6-8mpg hauling 4 mowers etc around on both gas trucks, and would have to borrow a buddies truck to haul dump trailers etc for hurricane cleanup or landscape install jobs. Yes they cost more up front but I cut my fuel bill by 65%. Both trucks run on a full tank pulling 6-8k lbs of equipment and people 6-7 days a week at $140$ per tank. The gassers cost me that every other day almost. I bought brand new trucks and while the financing was higher up front, I got the extended warranties so I’m good for 200k miles out of each. They are paid off already so it’s not a concern of mine for any repairs further down the line. Have 30-40k miles on each truck and they’ve been flawless as compared to the gasser fleet I had. Not to mention resale value. I got about 25% of what I paid for for 2 low mileage gasser trade ins, and they are offering me exactly what my order price was that I paid on my 2022’s to get me in 2023’s. Small time guys could use gassers but they definitely aren’t for me anymore.

Wow great video man keep them up learned a lot. I been doing it for awhile not as long as you but very good points. Any advice for someone starting out that wants to make this a career?
@keithlindsay Жыл бұрын
Honestly, if I had it to do all over again I would choose another career. It's too hard on your body and the profit just isn't there like it use to be. Back in the 90's and early 2000's was probably the prime time for landscaping and lawn maintenance. Now at least in my area there is too many folks doing it too cheap, people that just work for cash with no insurance or license. My son helped me for 10 years and I encouraged him to do something with his brain instead of his back. Expenses keep going up like crazy, equipment, maintenance on equipment, insurance, gas etc. I honestly netted more money 20 years ago. I hate to discourage you but i'm just being honest. If you do go into business as a career, buy a Walker mower. The most versital mower out there. If you take care of them they will last a long time. I have a 93 model, and a 2000 that is still running. Not my primary mowers but still

@@keithlindsay thanks for the great advice man mowing lawns is my passion I never had a love for anything besides lawn care but I do understand why you said that to your son and the mistakes I made in lawncare since i was 12 you can write a book on it. Any problems with starting the trimmers hanging them that way?
@keithlindsay Жыл бұрын
No problems starting when hanging vertical. I had them that way in a box truck on cheap individual racks for about 8 or 9 years. The equipment defender or green touch racks keep them from rotating when racks are hung horizontally but with the cheaper racks, the trimmers will rotate and flood when hung horizontally. I just like it because it takes up so much less wall space. With the 5' side door I knew my wall space would be limited. Thanks
