I’m 70 and absolutely love my 21 Goldwing bagger. I’ve already put over 40,000 miles in 3 Michigan summers and just feel privileged to own it.

I have put around 240K on Gold Wings, 1975, 1993, 1995, 2001, 2003, 2012. and a 2019, along with another 550K on other bikes. The 2019 DTC was my favorite of the Wings and I would not even consider going back to any previous Wings. Overall, for long distance touring considering all my other bikes, the 2019 DCT would be my first choice if I had to do it all over again

Great reply. I love hearing from folks with you guy’s experience. I think this bike is phenomenal and do believe that folks after excepting the changes will adapt. I myself with limited experience like sharing my opinion for others to chime in on what I thought was a video full of information. Every bike need to be personalized to the owners liking. We just need to do our research. Thanks for your knowledge and valuable input. Ride safe.

I think I was the one that complained about the 30k bike with a trash seat. I tried Honda’s comfier seat that they sell for $1200. It gives a big lumbar support but doesn’t give you an option for a backrest. I tend to sometimes ride 700/800 even 1k mile days and the seat doesn’t quite work. I tried the gel cushion but that takes away from the heated seats. I just came across your channel and I’m hooked
@richthereturnrider6737
@richthereturnrider6737 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, as much as we like the gel seat I never thought about the heating element. I only use the gel seat for the wife but she would not ride when it’s cold. For me to spend over $1k on the seat I would have to try one first. Thanks for watching. Ride safe.

After owning my first ever, since new, 2020 DCT Tour, I honestly don't know what else could replace it, as of today. Just a remarkable machine to own. I will never go back to shifting again.

I own a 2005 Honda Goldwing I bought last month with 10k miles for $8,000 all in like new condition from the original owner. If I had the opportunity to pay cash like I did with this wing, I would have opted in for the brand new wing touring model. But wow, I must say this wing is pure joy. The Lexus of motorcycles and an absolute couch rocket 🚀 lots of love and what an awesome channel. Keep the vids coming.

Good Video. We will likely pick up a 18'+ GW in the next couple years. I'm a grey beard but haven't wanted to give up the FJR1300 until now. It mostly depends on how we decide to travel moving forward.

Good point on the importance of a comprehensive test ride. Like you, I have the 6sp manual GL1800 Tour. Before buying, I found a place that rented them because I was not sure how well I would like the seat after a few hours. I put about 400 miles on it in the 24 hr. rental period. Best $200 I could have spent.

100% Rich! Chris Caliente has his finger on the pulse. He’s a rider’s rider. Always helping somebody with their questions regarding the Gold Wing. Always inspiring by his impeccable care of his machines. A previous Gen 5 and new Gen 6 Wings. He rides the mean streets. Seeks the apex’s and tarmac coast to coast. Does the miles. Walks the talk. He just did another video about DFW Honda, a L5 high volume shop. With an amazingly competent service tech and parts dept, is also my personal dealership, and whereI purchased my sublime 22 Ultra Blue DCT Tour. They are renowned for allowing demo/test rides. They wouldn’t have it any other way. Ride safe. Merry Christmas to ya’ll!

Absolutely, Chris is the real deal. I watched his video of a real Honda dealership assisting him with his key he left behind. I am still struggling to get the emergency code for mine. I envy you guys for having a premier dealership. I should’ve referred to mine like the Walmart of motorcycle dealerships. I might have to reach out to DFW Honda.

@@richthereturnrider6737 Do that Rich! Speak with Chad the Sales Mgr or Bart the Service and Parts Mgr. Mention Caliente and Road Glide. Chad or Bart will know who you’re talking about. FWIW. They offer a “fly and drive”. Where they’ll pick up customers up at the airport, a mere 8-10 miles away. The customer then drives away in their new Gold Wing! Hotels everywhere near the dealership too. DFW Honda has many certified previously owned and new Wings.

I have 2 Goldwings at the moment; 2019 DCT bagger and 2023 DCT Tour. I didn’t have to make the decision on the first one without a test ride as it was previously own and not an issue. I knew by the time I make my second turn that I was riding it home. A few months later and several thousand miles, I decided to by the Tour for 2 up riding in confort. No complaints from the Mrs about the back seat and the stock seat is good enough for me right now. The 19 has an ultimate seat on it and it is only marginally better, in my opinion. Both bikes are amazing and work for me/us! BTW, I won’t be buying a manual bike again if I can help it. DCT is the way to go! Thanks for the video, nice to hear a level headed point of view.

Great info. Wow the bagger and the tour. I wish I had a 17 to trade that gentleman for that 2023 DCT. I would own both Interesting that the ultimate seat is only marginally better. No complaints from the Mis-sus on seat discomfort. Great response and yes I could see that The DCT folks are not going back to manuals. It is technology that can’t be beat. Thanks for watching and sharing great info. Ride safe.

Idk about you but the only thing I don’t like about my goldwing (2022 dct) is that the seat sucks. I had my bike since February and I just put it away with over 16k miles. My old bike had a ultimate seat so I can’t quite compare but still. Another thing, the newer one went to the gym and got slim. Everyone says it lowers the wind protection and that’s definitely true.

Very good advice. I've been riding the 23 DCT bagger for a year and it wasn't available as a manual, only DCT. Also the local dealer didn't allow a test ride although I didn't push him on it. I did a lot of research and most riders like the DCT and I wanted to try it. I also was interested in the GW because at 6'4" I wanted a bike with an upright sitting position. I find the seat height very comfortable. I am not young and can't tolerate the low 26" height of popular cruisers any more. I did put a big slipstreamer shield on it and it gives me a ton of wind protection. I am so glad I got a Goldwing. It is the best so far. What kind of crash bar do you have? It looks like you can really stretch out with a highway peg.
@richthereturnrider6737
@richthereturnrider6737 8 ай бұрын
Wow! I was told that tall riders don’t fit Goldwings. I guess your the exception. The Crash bars are engine crash bars Worldmotop for GL1800. The Pegs were cheap ones purchase from Amazon. Took lots of modifications to work. I don’t highly recommend them but have had lots of questions about them. I might do a little video on them this weekend. Have already done video on the crash bars. I he Goldwing is a phenomenal machine. Ride safe.

I was skeptical with a 34" inseam but when I sat on it I knew it was good. My knees are one inch from the upper points. No problem at all. It would be nice if the seat were 1-2 inches further back but this is the most comfortable bike I've ridden in the past 10 years. Previously I rode a 2014 Indian and a 2016 KTM 1290 Superadventure. I have the goldstrike higway pegs on the GW and while not far enough away they provide relief for my right arthritic hip. Hope to go another 10 years on the Wing! Stay safe.@@richthereturnrider6737

My 18 RG is a gas pig. My new CVO is fast and efficient. I generally get about 170 miles between gas stops on my 18. I've gone over 250 on my CVO and could have kept going

@richthereturnrider6737 8 ай бұрын
The highest I have seen on mine is 261 after fill up. I do ride in economy mode when I am on the highways cruising. That number does vary I am assuming depending on your riding mode and habit. That CVO does sound really efficient. I am pretty sure that variable valve timing have to do with the performance and efficiency. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe brother.
