Hope they can fix the U91 before the now shortened season is over !! losing the San Diego Race is a HUGE Disappointment !! The BILL MUNCEY MEMORIAL RACE COURSE is a purpose built race course with some of fastest lap times in the GREAT HISTORY of hydroplane racing !! BILL MUNCEY himself setting that 140mph lap record back in 1980 .. and Chip going 172mph before the fuel flow restriction era !! Would have loved to see another record this year as the boat speeds are really Fast this year.. I think Jimmy set the course record last year 2022. The Grandprix america and prolites put on a very good show . Close racing and the sound of those engines gets you wanting more of those type boats. Losing the drag boats years ago really hurt the overall attendance in San Diego .. there just to much time in between heat races to keep people entertained all day . Even though bayfair has done a pretty good job .. The low boat count in san diego the last several years has really hurt the show !! Losing a boat early in the season is tough to deal with , especially a boat that clearly looked to be a top contender to make good racing and a good show for the fans ... Witch is desperately needed .. Thank goodness for all the safety innovations that have come from the GREAT Drivers and teams. Everbody goes home safe tonight and that matters more than a boat or a the loss of a race weekend .. Hope San Diego can get it figured out, NOT having a race at the Bill Muncey Memorial Course is missing out on a chance to keep boat racing alive and well at world class purpose built facility !! thats just a shame!! City leaders are to busy counting the tax payers money for there retirement to care about keeping the great history of boat racing where it belongs.. Every venue should be on notice!! This could happen in your town . Inflation and lack of sponsership cited as the cause... Safe racing for the rest of the season .. Go out and race hard for fans of hydroplane racing .!!!

It’s the same rule for everyone. It was put in place to stop them from parking in lane one and waiting until the one minute mark to take off
