So H1 awards points for jumping the gun but you dip below 80 that's a dq. What a dark ages rule. Just draw for lane position and scrap the milling period

The U3 never got below 80 in the last 1:30 minutes. It had no advantage for the race start. If they want to keep the 80 mph rule then maybe say it is only viable in the 1:30 minute before the start. U-3 was robbed!!! I think all the other race camps would agree. Grrrrr!

I used to follow the sport in the 80s and evidentally they must have made some huge rule modifications since then. Back in those days a turbo Allison had nothing for even a Rolls Royce Merlin or Griffon and had absolutely no chance against the Budweiser or Miller American turbine boats. Can anybody tell me what changed over the years?

Stupidest rule in boat racing. You can jump the start and only get a 1 minute penalty…still get points, but you drop under 80 and you get DQ’d - zero points - and it kills your weekend. Two years in a row this has happened to the 3. Way to send the fan favorite home. No wonder the sport is dying

Another sport killed by idiot rule books, NASCAR, F1 and now hydros. Who in their right mind wants to invest huge amounts of money into a sport where you clearly start behind another competitor, then race around him to win, to get chopped by a rule that had no effect on the outcome.
