Kevin's strategy was flipping over the house bot so it couldn't help his competitor. In this event he actually flipped the house bot on top of his competitor.

I appreciate the commitment of Kevin to one-upping himself every time. First he was content to merely turn off the housebot, something rare but done before. Then he flipped the housebot, which we never saw. Now, not one to rest on his own laurels, he flips the housebot not only on its face but onto his opponent. 10/10 stuff Kevin

Kevin turned the bot off, period !!! the fact that he flipped him over onto the switch should not matter, unless the rules state that the housebot has to remaining its wheels when turned off You guys have the same issues as Formula 1, clever people find a way to beat the rules, next you change the rules around. Still whoever beats the rules wins

I'm not sure he actually hit the switch, although the bot did appear to power off. The switch remained horizontal while off is in the vertical position.

I think theres some semantics over whether he hit the switch or the floor did. A similar question might be if it somehow gets pushed into the walls would it count as pressing the switch. I don’t think either count, but its semantics so everyones gonna have a different opinion.

@@braydenswinhart I think that, if your actions have directly caused the robot to be turned off, it should count. What if a hypothetical projectile bot used his projectiles to turn off the switch? Could we then say "Well, it wasn't the bot that turned off the switch, it was his projectile, so it doesn't count because he didn't use his body to directly turn off the switch"?

I think Dutch Oven should be disqualified. The flames obscure the view excessively and it makes it impossible to follow the match or drive the opponent. It's as if someone produced an intentional smokescreen, which I'm sure wouldn't be allowed. And besides the amount of energy spent to produce the flame from fuel is excessive and unfair compared to other robots that work on tiny batteries with mere watt hours of energy content while those flames require kilowatt hours. I would vote for a maximum energy usage per match to be set and followed by every kind of robot.

I respect the decision, but I still doubt it's beneficial to the sport. Making robots from metal is more work and more pricey, and for what? Well really just for these flame bots. For any other matchup it's only going to result in more boring less mobile less innovative robots, and less robots overall.

@@boardiesman Kinetic damage is much less costly and much more spectacular than thermal damage. Arena damage is not easy to control without disallowing all kinetic weapons so disallowing it wouldn't make sense. It's relatively easy to make a sturdy arena. The arena doesn't have any weight limits and it doesn't have to be able to move or fight.
