Nice to see Honda hasn't messed with the 2.0 liter engine. Same basic oil filter and not one of those dumb paper filter canister things. Keep a good thing going. I'm considering buying the same car.

A good friend of mine when he was a kid went outside to see how his dad was making out working on their car, and he found his dad crushed to death underneath. You gotta use jack stands or at least something solid that will prevent you from being unalived if the jack slips or fails. Chalking tires is a must as well.

That's horrible. It takes just a few mins to put the jack stands underneath. So sad.

Use the ORM oil filter as the gasket seats better and once it stops you are done . I like FRAM, but the Honda one is a better fit and easy to tighten. The cyber requires a #3 bit , and it’s easy to remove and put on a 2024 as there is a slot for alignment. The Touring costs $30 for the book and filter. Only takes 3.7 quarts with filter.

I’m starting to think if you go to a better filtering filter will that cause loss in oil pressure? And if that does will that lead to premature bearing failure?
@BenjieMoreno
@BenjieMoreno 3 ай бұрын
unless stated by honda on a specific oil filter - as long as it is compliant- it should be okay. not like the mazdas with skyactive engines and turbo ones- they have specifics. i am not following on that bearing failure- but in general NA engines has less engine/leak/dilution/pressure issues vs turbo engines.

I been researching when to do my first change I keep seeing change it at 1000 miles after engine break in then I saw about Hondas special break in oil with its additives and should stay in a lot longer before first change so I guess I should wait a lot longer? And any tips for good engine break in and how many miles for the break in to complete for the 23 civic sport? Thanks
@BenjieMoreno
@BenjieMoreno Жыл бұрын
typical breakin period is betweek 600-1000. cvt transmission i know atleast stay under the redline (rpm) best do not drive it hard. engine gear have to lossen up (break in), manual transmission and turbk engjnes have separate requirements. imho 1000 miles is way too low for firsh change. this very first oil and additives came from honda factory is the best and most important oil for new engine. i follow the oil meter, this computers are so advance on checking oil viscosity- i dnt go by the miles. i trust the sensor/computer

@@BenjieMoreno Thanks for the reply one more question what about the metal shavings in the oil I guess that’s why people say get the first one done early to get the manufacturers metal flakes and such out of the oil and engine thoughts?
@BenjieMoreno
@BenjieMoreno Жыл бұрын
@@mistadiscovery agree. but follow up question is- does it stop the continual wearing of metal shavings if you change oil in 1000 miles? it will still need to wear down to spec before it normalize. changing 1st oil is preference, i just want to maximize that first oil came from the factory. i would probably do it if its a high spec sports car, but honda recommends atleast 3500 on 1st change

@@BenjieMoreno if possible, will it be expensive to change from CVT? I have a CVT also and I live in germany temporarily and we got the Autobahn, so I love driving in sport mode (sometimes) which automatically makes the RPM get semi close to the red. worried now after reading your comment that driving it like this could mess something up. what can I do to change it from CVT?

Are you worried about the warranty? How do you prove to the dealer that you did the oil change?
@BenjieMoreno
@BenjieMoreno Жыл бұрын
warranty in terms of engine sludge? changing your own oil will not void the warranty, if you messed up something like stripping the bolt of oil pan or striping the oil filter connection- then they will not cover that.

@@BenjieMoreno I would suggest to check with Honda Dealer or keep all receipts in safe place. I have 2023 touring, I asked them about warranties if I do oil changes by myself. They said if something happens and you’re not authorized to do oil changes then they can void the warranties. They want to see it in papers. It doesn’t matter if you go to dealer or other oil change places. They want to see the receipts.

Dealer completely sucks donkey balls anyways. I won't even take my car to them for free. They overfilled my sisters oil by God knows how many quarts. I had to change it myself and make sure the fluid level is correct. Another time...they lifted my car by the fender instead of the factory jacking point, leaving a huge dent in the bottom of my fender. They don't wash their hands after they do the work. They just get in your car and get your steering wheel all greasy. Not trying to scare you but this is how they operate. I only use the dealer if it is an absolute must.
