@@MicahMuzio Great review Micah but I disagree about the engine being peppy. Yes the 2023 HR-V has 17 more hp than the older model but it's also a lot heavier. TheTopher got almost 13 seconds in his zero to 60 test. Redline Reviews got over 11 seconds. That's unacceptable for merging and passing other vehicles.

Such a difference this model year is. Glad to see Honda updated the tech and styling for this car since the last model looked really old and tired. I also appreciate Honda sticking with a traditional gear selector where you go up to park, and down to drive. So much nicer and more reliable than those stupid button gear selectors
@toronado455
@toronado455 2 жыл бұрын
I prefer shift-by-wire, and ether push buttons or a mono-stable (joystick style) gear selector. Push buttons and dial type gear selectors take up less space. I realize it's an unpopular position to take.

@@toronado455 I get they deciliter the space, but to me, they seem really unnecessary and are harder to use in tight space situations. My parents car was getting repaired so their loaner car had that feature, and it was awkward to use

@@colechapman3382 I totally get your point. I just find these big huge shifters to be completely unnecessary now. When there were actual mechanical linkages it made sense. But it's all electronic these days. A small monostable joystick can be used by feel quite easily.

Interesting. So I like the styling, and the price. Other than that it seems like cars like this are plateauing a bit. I don’t like car payments so I drive older cars. I have a 13 Avalon, and a 10 Fusion Hybrid. The Fusion is a top trim model, and has just about everything this car offers on its top trim other than apple car play of course. I’m also surprised with the efficiency aspect of the new HR-V. Even my V6 Avalon gets close to those MPG figures. I just did a road trip from CA to AZ and I averaged 32 MPH there, and 30 mpg on the way back. I get roughly 22-24 in town as well. Being a car guy I’m always looking for a reason to upgrade, but it’s just hard to justify.

Great video Micah. I appreciate the “tutorial” on how to make a KZbin car review video. It is awesome. I learned a lot. Is it possible to request that you have a portion of your video maybe 5-10 seconds focus on headlights and taillights with difference between DRL’s and headlights? Please and thank you. Of course, don’t go out of your way to honor my request, stick to whatever works for you. Miss the elbow comfort index (ECE) test, some other reviewers measure extending Sun visors, the elbow comfort index should be trademarked with or without the squirrel.

@TypeVertigo

For the second generation, the HR-V meant for the rest of the world is different. That soldiers on with the same platform as the fourth-generation GR Fit (which the US doesn't get, either, but is still sold in Japan and the UK). The US gets what other countries call the ZR-V, and is based on the eleventh-generation (FL?) Civic's bones. This explains the difference in rear suspension (no torsion beam any more) and the increase in size.

I like the new styling, but I’m actually pretty surprised at how many of the original car’s interesting features are sacrificed with only minor and incremental improvements elsewhere. We were thinking of getting an HR-V to replace our 2018 Fit (because Honda has killed it off, and the HR-V was supposed to be the next best thing), but if the car is significantly bigger, but yields no more interior room, has much worse fuel economy, but only about 10% more power to offset the additional bulk, it’s definitely left itself out of the running for our next vehicle. Sorry Honda. You bunted on this one.

This car is too large for its supposed category now; it's exactly the same size as the Mazda CX-5 and only a couple of inches shorter than the RAV4! If I wanted a subcompact SUV, I'd get something the size of the Mazda CX-30, Corolla Cross or Subaru CrossTrek and if I wanted an SUV this size, I'd much sooner get the CX-5/RAV4, especially since I think the HR-V was hit with an ugly stick. Finally, the powertrain is dangerously weak for a car that size; 138 lb-ft of torque is even less than the smaller Corolla Cross which has 151 lb-ft yet is widely considered slow. What was Honda thinking??

No rear seat A/C vents is a stupid, deal-breaking oversight.

The 2022 has less horsepower, and a less robust CVT transmission. That's the trade off.

WTF why is Honda making their cars look like a FORD escape? If the new CR-V looks anything like this I’m going back to JEEP!!!

Took it for test-drive today, so, I'm was not impressed. Not enough acceleration for me (but it's ok for a quiet retiree ride), a lot of motor noise from high RPM because of CVT (there is some soundproofing under the hood), rather unpleasant vibration throughout the car when you stand at a traffic light - in my opinion this is unacceptable. The car made in Mexico, don't know about quality and reliability, also the load on the engine and transmission due to more weight and AWD will increase compared to the Civic... The dealership in Colorado asked for $31.115 for Sport Trim with AWD (they add $1654 to price) which is a lot for car like this I guess. So, fair price in my mind for this Car should be no more than $25-28 at the exit with all taxes. There was no desire to buy (especially for this price).

lol this person is pasting this comment on all of the reviews for the hrv. Literally just saw this comment on a different video and someone replied and said none of this was true.

@@MrModz88 Nobody stops you from buying, go and buy.😄 I warned people by leaving comments under various videos that this car is not worth the attention of a person who loves cars. For all the time there was only one fan who liked this car, probably he did not drive anything before and does not know anything about comfort.

So I bought the 2021 Honda Civic hatchback sport and then a couple months late I see the 2022 and the Burst Blue or whatever color it's called just annoyed me... cus the dealer didn't tell me about that but then he is a dealer... he's all about himself, but that car is sweet looking... and now that I just watch the video of the HR-V video and I feel like kicking myself, this is sick too... dammit!!!

The Honda HR-V is a great vehicle, and this second-gen is no different. My only gripe with the HR-V is its exterior styling, mostly because of how stunning the UK variant looks. The interior is a bit 50-50, but the US variant looks better.
