I have to disagree, this bike isn't a classification, all of its own. The KLR is over 100 lb heavier, the other bikes such as the Suzuki are probably close but the Yamaha no way! And if it came down to getting a Honda or a Suzuki definitely go with the Honda.

I recently traded off a 2018 XR 650L. Very impressive bike. Handle grips just seemed to small, at seventy miles per hour the wind drag was so bad you literally got to hang on. I need something with a windshield. Lol

Well, something with the windshield is going to be twice as heavy and way more cumbersome for off-road applications. I’ve had a 650 since 2012 and I just keep it at 55 or 60 tops on the street.

Well get one then! you can find a used one very cheap, but a word of caution. They’re heavy and very tall.

Heavy and tall doesn't bother me. My problem is the fact, that I am Austrian. I can't buy one in my country, we got Euro 5 here. If I import one, I won't get a licence for it. So it's really a shame. Would love to go back to the roots. But all I can do is keep on dreaming. 😥

@@bobloffel2000 Austria? Then KTM is your answer my friend! the 500 EXC-F is the next bike I’m purchasing, much lighter and more performance than my old XR 650 that’s for sure! I do love my XR however I ride it to work almost every day, I’ve owned it since 2012 and it has 18,000 miles on it still runs great.

That's funny . I have a 98 XR600R , it didn't even come with an ignition barrel ,just a stop button

I have a 2023 xr650l, it took years of physical therapy toget back. This bike is a perfect match for where I live. Bike is a great platform for many different riding styles.
