I bought my white gas variant last October and I'll share my insights. Do not forget that the Hyundai Tucson has different drive modes. In usual metro traffic, the average consumption is 4-8 km depending on how heavy the traffic is (eco mode). When I went to the expressway, I was first not impressed with the speed and power but little did I know that I forgot to switch the drive mode to normal. Man, when I switched it to normal mode, the speed and power was amazingly impressive. It was as smooth as butter. I was about to try the sports mode but my mom stopped me. Lol. Fuel consumption in expressway ranges from 9-12km (normal mode). The exterior was outstanding. It's eye-catching cuts and design was impressive. I saw some of my colleagues observing and glancing the car when I parked it one time. They always say that the design was vey "pogi and maangas". Interior was also good especially the lights in the side during night drive. The fact that you can change the colors depending in your liking is a plus. Legroom was veerrryyyy spaaaaciooooous. The auto brake feature is very helpful especially during traffic to avoid foot cramps but I opt to not use it all the time. Technology of the Tucson was superb too. I don't know what its called but every time I turn or park and there is a possible blind spot, a light in the side is automatically activated which saved me for a couple of times already. Overall, the new Tucson exceeded my expectation. I got mine from Hyundai Pampanga from Neil. It was a very smooth transaction.

We currently have the gas variant (bought august 2022). Here are some insights on the car: Fuel Consumption: 5-6km/L in really heavy traffic (eco mode) ; 10-11km/L in highway (normal/sport mode) Acceleration: Has a little delay but huge power kicks in at 2000rpm. More than enough power for city driving Power: No problems in uphill or downhill. Only con it cannot keep up with our Land Rover Defender😂 Technology: Both variants have the same tech so pretty impressive. Wireless Apple Carplay is a huge plus Interior Cabin: Materials are nice and modern. Leather seats are more on the durable side over Mazda's supple nappa leather. Road and tire noise are only kept to a minimum (good insulation) Overall Design: Really stands out on the road Price: Excellent pricing especially compared to the competition Price we paid: P1.570M cash (more or less 50k on in-house insurance) Free Tint and LTO charges P.S. Excellent service too in Hyundai Quezon Avenue🤍

I love this car. It's fast, fuel efficient and it looks darn good. Feels good to drive it in the city. If there's not much traffic I get an 8 to 11 km per liter but if you are driving on stop and go traffic in pasig, mandaluyong and qc, you will just get around 5 to 6 km per liter. Really bad traffic you will get an average of 3-5. The longer you are not moving the lower the average will be. So even if you start good at average 7-8 then you hit a stand still traffic for 30 mins the average will go down coz you are consuming gas but not moving.

Diesel gives more power and torque than gas. Saddled by an extra 200 kg weight on the diesel, power to weight ratio still gives the edge in performance to the diesel. Aside from that, gas has all the other advantages.

@wolfshanze5980

Actually there are differences between US Tucsons and overseas Tucsons... yes, the shape and overall look are the same, but drive trains vary significantly... those engine options in the Philippines aren't offered here in the US AT ALL: US Tucson engine options are a 2.5L non-aspirated engine (for gas-only) mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the 1.6L Turbo paired with an electric engine for the Hybrid (and PHEV) Tucsons mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Now, i'm not an expert on the Philippine models, but going by what he just said (and i'm not at all surprised): Philippine Tucson engine options are a 2.0L Turbo (for gas) mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, and a Diesel engine (not available in the US at all). I imagine the Philippines are getting Hybrids too, but it wasn't mentioned so not sure. In any event, overseas Tucsons have the same exterior (and I suppose interior) look... but they are not the same in the US (the engine options are radically different)... don't even get me started on European Tucsons that literally are smaller in size and have a different looking trunk/cargo area.

@@wolfshanze5980 there's no Turbo gas. It's a standard 2.0L with 156HP. And the ones in the Philippines don't have the safety features that you get in the US. They have just a simple cruise control and back up camera. No sunroof either.

tucson is good but i think the downside here is it will age very fast with respect to its exterior design and features. maiiwan lang sila ng other competitors kasi most compact crossovers have more safety features provided specially adaptive cruise, lane dep warning, emergency braking, and moonroof. dapat dinala nila ung full spec tucson or at least on par with the specs of other car brand, kaya price wise it is a bit cheaper than the others kasi less accessories and features. not a fun of the bulky sides, yung reflection makes the car looks weird, look at Caco's reflection at @2.45, comparing it to mazda's body. we own a tucson gen2 facelifted and i am satisfied with it. though, engine power have some lag, not sure about the new one. worried din about the aftersales service since iba na ung hyundai operator sa pinas.

This version of Tucson in comparison to the US version which is my current daily driver is just vastly different in terms of features in safety and interior. mine got the moonroof, line keeping assist, cruise control, 10.25 inch infotainment system, front and back camera, blind spot monitor, pedestrian and forward colission avoidance, among other features. I'm sad that they didn't carry over that version to the Philippine market. I would definitely buy one if that was the case. btw, the 2022 US version of Tucson won numerous awards and won car of the year (2022) from both in the US and UK. Best major purchase. hehe You should check out the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited. That's the one I got. Thanks and more power.

@@doodsvelasco9877 I didn't want to type earlier, because I was thinking you were a dud. LOL My opinion is from education, ownership and experience. You do not have to preach to me Reagan's video as basis. LOL BTW, I do not mean to be rude. Any power source (engine and gearbox a force multiplier) connected to multiple mechanical linkages (front and rear drive axles, universal joints or CVDs, and propellers and/or more) will grab more power/energy-use from it. So a diesel engine with front wheel drive having 4 points in its drivetrain to the wheels is more efficient than a 4wd or AWD system which run more mechanical linkages. More so, a diesel motor is naturally a low revving engine and has more torque than gas engines at lower rpm ranges. Mind you turbo boost happens at a higher RPM. The Hyundai Tucson employs an air intercooler and variable vane turbo (like a Porsche). It does not use a multiple valve/pipe system of a twin turbo, which again makes it more efficient, less cost to manufacture and weight saving. The weight of a crossover is naturally heavier than a sedan, so it will require a larger or forced induction motor/engine to propel its weight, ergo a 2.0 gas and 2.0 crdi engine is used in the Tucson. The 2.0 crdi and 2.0 gas engine will roughly consume almost the same amount of fuel in our current manila traffic conditions, the difference is not very significant. What else? gas engines (higher rpm range, around 6k) tend to be more faster running to speeds than it diesel (low rpm, about 4k to 4.5k) brother, but diesel gets alleviated when it is paired with an intercooled and variable turbo setup. Another role in efficiency, a typical family in the metro vehicle spec would most often entail 4 occupants at an average. Having such will require more energy, a diesel engine with its high torque and low rev will move the weight more easily. Whereas if using a gas engine, it will require more revs which for it to alleviate the torque requirement to move its mass; higher rev or rpm means more fuel is consumed. FYI Diesel engines are really priced higher from most, if not all brand manufacturers, diesel engines also has a longer workable life span than a gas engine due to material used and characteristics. Don't you have auto mechanical shop class back in high school dude? Trivia! Mr. Tirona and I are classmates/schoolmates, we both studied auto mechanics in class, we even disassembled and reassembled engines, that is how we passed that class; getting that engine cleaned, re-assembled and started. Anyhow, I hope this had tingled your "sense". LOL

Turbo diesels are stuck in the late 2000's/early 2010's when diesel prices weren't as ridiculous as today's P68/L. You can't go wrong with the power and torque of a Tucson, maybe just post-PMS tweaks like the brakes and it can be better than a Benz or even a Porsche on the open road. That said, cheaper and more fuel-efficient options are available here. The only thing that will change my mind is more options like in the US where they have a 1.4L Plug-In Hybrid.
